Deccan AI is a model training and eval startup headquartered in the Bay Area. We are founded by IIT Bombay, IIM Ahmedabad and ex-Google alumni, and work with some of the top AI frontier labs in the world, e.g. Google Deepmind, Snowflake, and many more. We are backed by Prosus Ventures, and our India delivery office is in Hyderabad. Most of our roles are on-site i.e. Bay Area / Hyderabad.

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Analytics Lead with 5-8 years of experience, preferably in startups, and a strong educational background from a top-tier institution. The ideal candidate combines deep analytics expertise with proven leadership and general management skills to drive data-driven decision-making and business growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the analytics function, delivering insights that drive strategic and operational decisions.
• Develop and implement data strategies, frameworks, and analytics processes across the organization.
• Collaborate with business leaders to identify opportunities for leveraging data to enhance business outcomes.
• Mentor and guide analytics teams, fostering a culture of continuous learning and high performance.
• Oversee data governance, quality, and integrity to ensure reliable and impactful analytics.
• Translate complex data into clear, actionable business insights and communicate findings to senior leadership.
• Partner with cross-functional teams (Product, Marketing, Finance, Operations) to support growth initiatives and optimize performance.
• Manage projects end-to-end, from data extraction to modeling, visualization, and storytelling.

Required Qualifications

• 5-8 years of analytics experience, preferably in fast-paced startup environments.
• Top educational background (e.g. IIT, IIM, equivalent) with degrees in Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, or related fields.
• Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams and coordinating cross-functional efforts.
• Proven ability to combine analytics expertise with general management and business operations.
• Proficiency in analytics tools and programming languages (e.g., SQL, Python, R, Tableau, Power BI).
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience driving business impact through data-driven strategies and initiatives.
