AGM/DGM - Forecasting & Scheduling

How you will contribute

1. Forecasting & Generation Analytics

• Develop and manage high-precision day-ahead, intraday, and real-time generation forecasts for wind and solar portfolios.
• Integrate SCADA, weather models, and historical data to enhance forecast accuracy.
• Evaluate performance of external FSPs (Forecasting Service Providers) and drive accuracy improvement initiatives.
• Monitor plant-level availability and correlate deviations with weather and equipment parameters.

2. Scheduling & Grid Interface

• Prepare, submit, and revise day-ahead and intraday schedules on NLDC/RLDC web portals as per CERC regulations.
• Manage time-block level schedules for wind, solar, and hybrid configurations (as per Approved Capacity/PA).
• Ensure adherence to CERC’s Forecasting, Scheduling & Deviation Settlement Regulations for ISTS-connected renewable projects.
• Coordinate with NLDC/RLDC, CTU, and SLDC (if required) for schedule acceptance, curtailments, and outage management.

3. Deviation Settlement & Compliance

• Track DSM (Deviation Settlement Mechanism) accounts for ISTS-connected assets and analyse penalties/deviation trends.
• Implement proactive measures to minimize DSM charges through forecast revision and plant control actions.
• Support compliance audits, regulatory filings, and performance reviews with NLDC/RLDC.

4. Commercial & Operational Coordination

• Liaise with power trading / PPA management teams to align schedules with commercial commitments (e.g., SECI, DISCOMs, bilateral trades).
• Work with O&M and SCADA teams to ensure asset availability and resolve data anomalies impacting forecasts.
• Assist in planning generation during outages, maintenance, or derating of equipment.

5. Reporting & Process Improvement

• Publish daily/weekly/monthly MIS on forecast accuracy, DSM exposure, schedule adherence, and curtailment.
• Benchmark forecasting tools and methodologies; recommend adoption of advanced AI/ML models.
• Implementation of methodology for schedule accuracy improvements.
• Maintain SOPs and knowledge base for forecasting and scheduling functions.

Ideal skills for this role

• B.E./B. Tech in Electrical / Power Systems / Energy / Renewable Engineering.
• 7+ years’ experience in scheduling & forecasting of ISTS-connected wind, solar, or hybrid plants.
• Exposure to DSM analysis, energy accounting, and central grid operations is essential.
• Experience with power trading, PPA management, or hybrid control systems is desirable.
