Job Summary

The Zonal Sales Manager will be responsible for driving sales growth, market expansion, and distributor management across the assigned zone. The role involves strategic planning, team leadership, channel management, and execution of sales initiatives to achieve revenue and market share targets in the Food FMCG segment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute zonal sales strategies aligned with company objectives
  • Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets for the assigned zone
  • Manage and expand distributor and super stockist network
  • Lead, mentor, and monitor Area Sales Managers (ASM) and Sales Officers
  • Ensure effective distribution, availability, and visibility of products
  • Implement trade schemes, promotions, and new product launches
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and consumer behavior
  • Coordinate with marketing, supply chain, and finance teams
  • Ensure timely collection, credit control, and adherence to company policies
  • Prepare sales forecasts, MIS reports, and performance reviews

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Expertise in FMCG food sales channels (GT, MT, HORECA, Institutional)
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills
  • Strategic thinking with strong execution capability
  • Proficiency in sales planning, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Knowledge of distribution management systems (DMS/ERP)

Qualification & Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field
  • MBA/PGDM in Sales & Marketing preferred
  • 8-12 years

    of relevant experience in Food/FMCG sales
  • Minimum

    3-5 years

    in a managerial/zonal role

Key Responsibilities

  • Achieve primary & secondary sales targets for assigned territory
  • Appoint, manage, and develop distributors and channel partners
  • Ensure regular market visits and outlet coverage (GT / MT / HORECA as applicable)
  • Execute trade schemes, promotions, and product launches
  • Maintain strong relationships with retailers, wholesalers, and distributors
  • Monitor stock availability, order booking, and timely dispatch
  • Collect market intelligence on competitors, pricing, and consumer trends
  • Ensure proper merchandising, visibility, and brand presence
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly sales reports
  • Handle payment collections and ensure credit discipline

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Knowledge of FMCG food distribution and sales cycles
  • Ability to work independently in the field
  • Target-driven with problem-solving mindset
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and sales reporting
  • Two-wheeler mandatory; local market knowledge preferred

Preferred Candidate Profile

  • Experience in

    Food FMCG / Edible Oil / Dairy / Snacks / Bakery / Spices

  • Hands-on experience in distributor & retailer management
  • Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned territory
