With a vision to strengthen India’s indigenous space program, Godrej & Boyce began the Aerospace business in 1985. Godrej Aerospace started with developing high precision spacecraft components made of exotic alloys for the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). Since then, the business has been a part of every other Indian space mission. Today, Godrej Aerospace is an integral part of Indian rockets and spacecrafts, including those of the Mangalyaan and Chandrayaan missions.

Godrej Aerospace is also a manufacturer of precision and hi-tech aerospace components, assemblies, and systems, executing global aerospace projects as well as partnering with global majors like Honeywell, GE, Rolls-Royce, and Boeing for the manufacture of precision components. The business has executed numerous aerospace projects involving precision machining, precision fabrication, welding and brazing, heat treatment, surface treatment, assembly testing and supply of complex and airworthy systems and has garnered expertise in the successful development of liquid propulsion engines, defence systems, satellite components and assemblies, and dish antennas with feed systems.

Welding & weld Quality Control

  • Ensure compliance with aerospace welding standards (e.g., AWS D17.1, AS9100, NADCAP).
  • Metallurgy knowledge for aerospace grade materials
  • Monitor first-pass yield (FPY) and minimize weld defects and rework.
  • Review and approve WPS, PQR, and welder qualifications.
  • Conduct in-process and final weld inspections with quality/NDT teams.
  • Maintain weld traceability and documentation for customer audits.

Production Execution

  • Plan and manage daily welding activities as per production schedules.
  • Allocate manpower, machines, and materials to meet delivery targets.
  • Monitor adherence to process parameters, cycle time, and takt time.
  • Collaborate with planning and engineering teams for smooth workflow.
  • Ensure achievement of monthly output and efficiency KPIs.

Process Improvement

  • Identify and implement Lean initiatives for weld area optimization.
  • Drive defect reduction and process stability through RCA and CAPA.
  • Participate in new process trials and engineering change implementations.
  • Improve tooling, jig design, and fixturing for quality and ease of welding.
  • Support digitalization and automation initiatives wherever feasible.

Team Supervision

  • Lead, train, and mentor welders on techniques and safety practices.
  • Assess welder performance through periodic evaluations and audits.
  • Coordinate skill development and certification programs for welders.
  • Promote teamwork and resolve shop-floor issues promptly.
  • Foster a culture of discipline, continuous improvement, and accountability.

Adherence to Compliance:

  • Promote and maintain a culture of safety, good housekeeping, and adherence to operational standards.
  • Ensure adherence to systems and documentation as per AS9100, EMS, OHSAS & ISMS, and customer-specific requirements.
  • Valuing the information received & effort spent in creating every piece of information. Ensuring the right information is accessed by right individuals. Ensuring Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability of information.
  • Responsible for controlling the usage of energy sources for Environmental Protection and Energy Security for sustainable growth.


Qualifications Required:

Degree/ Diploma in Engineering (Metallurgy/Production/Welding/Mechanical)

Functional/Technical Competencies Required:

1. Knowledge of:

- International welding codes like ASME, BS 5500, GOST ; Welding process GTAW & GMAW;

- Aerospace grade Alloys- Aluminium, Nickel, Inconel, Stainless Steel, Titanium, Copper, etc.

- NDT, X Ray, UT ; Destructive Tests - Chemical, Mechanical.

- Fabrication drawings and Inspection as per standards


Work Experience Required:

  1. 5+ years of work experience for Degree in Engineering
  2. Relevant work experience in Welding from Aerospace industry
