We are Hiring for Head of Physical Education

Job Purpose

The Head of the Department (HOD)-Physical Education at Anurag University is responsible for leading, coordinating, and enhancing all academic, training, and sports development activities under the Department of Physical Education. The role involves fostering excellence in teaching, research, and student engagement across all schools of the university, ensuring alignment with the university's mission to promote holistic education and physical well-being among 15.000 students.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Academic Leadership

• Develop, review, and implement curriculum for Physical Education and Sports Science programs.
• Coordinate academic schedules, syllabi, and evaluation methods for Physical Education courses.
• Mentor faculty in teaching methodologies, research, and professional development.
• Ensure academic quality standards and NAAC/AICTE/UGC compliance.
• Promote interdisciplinary learning through collaborations with other schools of education.

2. Sports and Games Administration

• Plan, organize, and supervise intra- and inter-university sports, tournaments, and athletic meets.
• Work closely with the

  Director of Physical Education

  to implement the university's annual sports calendar
• Guide

  Assistant Directors

  in managing various sports disciplines and fitness programs.
• Monitor and evaluate the performance of university teams and ensure systematic training and selection.
• Oversee maintenance, utilization, and scheduling of sports facilities, gymnasiums. and playgrounds.

3. Student Development and Welfare

• Encourage student participation in sports and physical fitness programs across all schools.
• Implement programs promoting physical literacy, wellness, and mental health through sports.
• Identify talented student athletes and recommend scholarships, recognition, or incentives.
• Ensure inclusivity and gender balance in sports participation.

4. Research and Professional Development

• Promote research in Physical Education, Sports Science, and related disciplines
• Encourage faculty and student publications, seminars, workshops, and conferences.
• Facilitate collaborations with national sports bodies and research institutions.
• Seek funding for research projects and sports infrastructure development.

5. Administrative and Managerial Duties

• Supervise and evaluate the performance of teaching and non-teaching staff under the department.
• Prepare annual budgets, resource plans, and procurement proposals.
• Maintain records of departmental activities, achievements, and reports for university authorities.
• Ensure safety, discipline, and compliance in all sports and physical education activities.
• Represent the department in academic councils, committees, and university events.

6. Outreach and Representation

• Build partnerships with sports organizations, federations, and universities for training and events.
• Lead community and outreach initiatives promoting physical education and fitness awareness.
• Serve as a liaison between the university and external sports agencies or governing bodies.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Ph.D. in Physical Education or Sports Science.
• Minimum 12 years of teaching and administrative experience in higher education.
• Participation in Senior National Tournaments in a specialized game.
• NIS (Diploma/6 Weeks)
• Proven record of leadership in organizing State or national-level tournaments.
• Strong research and publication profile preferred.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and team management skills.
