Transport Coordinator

A Transport Coordinator in the warehousing industry plans, organizes, and manages the movement of goods to ensure timely and cost-effective deliveries, optimizing routes and communicating with drivers and carriers to resolve logistical issues. Key responsibilities include tracking shipments, managing inventory, maintaining logistics records, ensuring compliance with safety and transport regulations, and analyzing data to improve efficiency within the supply chain.

Key Responsibilities

• Shipment Coordination:

Organize and track the movement of goods from suppliers and to customers, ensuring all shipments arrive on schedule and within budget.

• Route Optimization:

Identify and implement the most efficient and cost-effective transportation routes for drivers and carriers.

• Logistics Management:

Oversee the entire logistics process, from receiving goods to internal allocation and final delivery, often involving the use of Transportation Management Systems (TMS).

• Communication:

Serve as a central point of contact, liaising with drivers, carriers, suppliers, customers, and internal departments to coordinate activities and resolve issues.

• Record Keeping:

Maintain accurate logs and detailed records of warehouse operations, executed orders, and transportation activities.

• Problem Solving:

Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to delays, damages, and service discrepancies in transportation and logistics.

• Safety and Compliance:

Understand, follow, and enforce all relevant safety standards, transportation regulations, and company policies.

• Reporting and Analysis:

Prepare reports for management, analyze logistics data to identify areas for improvement, and suggest strategies to enhance efficiency.

• Inventory and Equipment Oversight:Monitor inventory, oversee the order of raw materials, and ensure proper management and maintenance of warehouse equipment.
