Job Description

Department: Production / Tooling

Reporting To: Engineering Manager / Production Manager

Experience: 5–10 Years

Industry: Aerospace Machining – Structural & Engine Components

Role Purpose: The Tool Room Management Operator is responsible for the management, preparation, presetting, maintenance, storage, and lifecycle control of cutting tools, holders, fixtures, and gauges used in high-precision aerospace structural and engine component machining. The role ensures maximum machine uptime, consistent part quality, and optimized tooling cost.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Tool Management & Presetting - Assemble and preset cutting tools, tool holders, and modular tool systems. - Ensure correct tool lengths, offsets, runout control, and balance. - Maintain presetting records and tool master data.

2. Tool Inventory & Lifecycle Control - Maintain tool inventory, usage tracking, and replacement cycles. - Prevent tool shortages, overstocking, and obsolescence.

3. Tooling Support to CNC Operations - Support 3-axis, 4-axis & 5-axis CNC machining. - Assist operators with tool changes, breakage analysis, and setup issues.

4. Tool Maintenance & Regrinding Control - Coordinate with regrinding and recoating vendors. - Ensure dimensional integrity and traceability of regrind cycles.

5. Fixture, Work-holding & Gauge Management - Manage fixtures, jaws, clamping systems, and gauges. - Ensure calibration tagging and safe storage.

6. Aerospace Traceability & Documentation - Maintain tool history, wear logs, breakage reports. - Support FAIR, SPC, and process capability requirements.

7. Cost Control & Tool Optimization - Monitor tool life, reduce insert consumption, and support cost reduction.

8. Digital Tool Management - Operate tool management software, barcode/RFID tracking, and ERP issuance.

9. Safety, 5S & Compliance - Maintain 5S, FOD prevention, and EHS compliance. - Support AS9100 awareness and OEM shop-floor standards.

Technical Skills: - CNC tool presetting - Cutting tool selection for aluminum, titanium, Inconel, stainless steel - Tool holders, collets, and shrink-fit systems - Tool life monitoring - Fixture and gauge handling
