Manage the end-to-end import process for goods from China, including order placement, shipment tracking, customs clearance, and delivery.
Coordinate with suppliers in China to ensure timely and accurate shipment of goods.Monitor and track shipments, resolving any issues or delays promptly.
- Documentation and Compliance:
Prepare and review import documentation, including invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and certificates of origin.
Ensure compliance with all relevant import regulations, customs requirements, and company policies.Maintain accurate records of all import transactions and documentation.
- Vendor and Supplier Management:
Develop and maintain strong relationships with Chinese suppliers and vendors.
Negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers to ensure cost-effective procurement.Conduct supplier evaluations and audits to ensure quality and reliability.
Coordinate with customs brokers and agents to ensure timely and accurate customs clearance of shipments.
Resolve any customs-related issues or disputes promptly.Stay updated on changes in customs regulations and ensure compliance.
Monitor and manage import costs, including freight, duties, and taxes.
Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements in the import process.Prepare and analyse cost reports, identifying areas for cost reduction.
Coordinate with the inventory management team to ensure proper receipt and storage of imported goods.
Monitor inventory levels to ensure adequate stock while minimizing excess inventory.Implement and maintain inventory control procedures.
- Communication and Coordination:
Liaise with internal teams, including purchasing, warehouse, and finance, to ensure smooth import operations.
Provide regular updates on shipment status and any potential issues.Facilitate effective communication between all parties involved in the import process.
Identify and resolve any issues related to the import process, including delays, discrepancies, and non-compliance.Implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence of issues.Continuously evaluate and improve import processes to enhance efficiency.
Candidate Profile
Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.Proven 2–4 years’ experience in import/export operations, preferably with a focus on China imports.Strong understanding of international trade regulations, customs procedures, and import documentation.Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.Proficiency in MS Office and import/export management software.Strong negotiation and communication skills.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle high-pressure situations.Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
