Job Summary

The Test Lead will oversee the quality assurance activities of a small team (4–5 test developers), lead automation initiatives using Katalon Studio or similar tools, devise effective test strategies, and ensure the delivery of high-quality software through structured planning, execution, and team mentorship.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain test automation frameworks using Katalon Studio or equivalent (Selenium, TestComplete, etc.) for web, mobile, and API applications.
• Formulate and maintain comprehensive test plans and strategies, ensuring clear test objectives, resource allocation, and schedules.
• Assign and track tasks for the test team, set priorities, and monitor progress to ensure timely and high-quality delivery.
• Review automation scripts, test scenarios, and overall test coverage for completeness and adherence to standards.
• Coach and mentor test developers in automation best practices, tool adoption, and technical problem-solving.
• Regularly report on test progress, automation coverage, defect status, and quality metrics to management and other stakeholders.
• Collaborate closely with development, DevOps, and business analysts to align quality efforts with release goals.
• Oversee defect management: triage issues, liaise with developers for resolution, and ensure defect retesting/regression coverage.
• Identify areas for process improvement, propose solutions, and drive their implementation within the team.
• Stay updated on trends in test automation and recommend new tools or approaches as appropriate.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in test automation, with at least 1–2 years leading a QA or automation team.
• Advanced expertise with Katalon Studio or comparable automation tools (Selenium, TestComplete, etc.).
• Deep understanding of testing methodologies (STLC, BDD/TDD), process optimization, and Agile/Scrum practices.
• Proficient in scripting languages such as Java, Groovy, or Python.
• Experience integrating automated tests with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Azure DevOps).
• Excellent leadership, communication, and people-management skills.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred

• ISTQB or equivalent certification.
• Experience with API test automation, performance testing tools, and cloud/SaaS environments.
• Strong knowledge of test management and defect tracking systems (e.g., JIRA, TestRail).
