Tax Director,

This is a global role and will be responsible for the management of several group tax managers. Reporting to the Group Head of Tax & Treasury, this newly created role of Tax Director will be a senior member of the Global Tax Team. The position will require leadership capabilities and will involve working closely with the Group and local Financial Control teams, senior stakeholders and external advisors.

Key responsibilities:

• Managing the Vistra Group’s tax compliance framework
• Managing tax controversy across the Vistra Group
• Enhancing and improving tax reporting processes
• Assistance with Group wide tax projects
• Ad-hoc tax advisory support
• Drive tax risk management
• Develop and implement the Group’s overall tax compliance and reporting strategy
• Manage and coordinate tax audits and tax authority queries
• Build and lead a high performing group tax team
• Develop and implement controls to mitigate tax risks including the Group’s tax risk management framework
• Support with ad-hoc tax queries
• Assistance on Group wide projects including M&A, internal restructures and legal entity rationalisations
• Supporting the Group Financial control team with tax matters across both Group and local audits and quarterly calculations
• Drive continuous improvement in tax initiatives
• Enhance existing tax compliance visibility
• Identify, assess and manage tax-related risks
• Maintain proper documentation to support tax positions and minimise exposure
• Regular stakeholder reporting

Key requirements:

• Qualified Chartered Accountant with minimum 15 years of relevant experience in tax.
• Experience of working in Big 4 and in-house
• Leadership experience
• Comprehensive tax and accounting (IFRS) knowledge
• Strong ERP system understanding
• Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills
• Proven ability to operate in complex global tax environments
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with internal teams and other stakeholders
• Experience in similar role in similarly complex organisation
• Experience across complex tax projects
• A proven ability to navigate complex tax landscapes in a dynamic corporate environment
• A deep understanding of tax laws and tax reporting requirements
• Strong team management skills
• Willing to get their hands dirty with the team
• Able to juggle multiple initiatives and issues simultaneously, including shifting priorities and timelines
• Able to see the big picture – thinking strategically and long-term – but also to roll up one’s sleeves and get into the detail as required
• Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
• Ability to work in tight deadlines
• Committed to resolving problems; and to high quality deliverables in an expedient manner on the timelines agreed
• Open, honest and collaborative leadership and people management style; leading by example and modelling best behaviours
