System Engineer

Role Description

One of our leading clients based in the US is seeking a Systems Engineer to drive continued excellence in their ongoing operations, performance monitoring, testing automation, and regular enhancements to the media monitoring and analytics platform. As a key member of the technology team, the individual will work directly with developers, quality assurance, and operations

teams. The System Engineer will report to the Senior Systems Engineering Manager and

be responsible for the day-to-day operations of our ‘big data’ environment. This position will be completely remote.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

• Build and set up new development tools and infrastructure to integrate with internal back-end systems and support various business applications
• Automate processes to improve development and release processes
• Perform root cause analysis for technical problems and provide appropriate resolutions and workarounds
• Manage resources on Amazon Web Services (AWS), on-prem servers, and Docker containers
• Author, collaborate, analyze, and test the scripts written by other team members
• Design procedures for system/data troubleshooting, maintenance, and cyber-security
• Provide on-call support as needed
• Create and update system documentation, including operational response documentation, to ensure maintainability and support readiness

Required Skills & Experience

• 6+ years of hands-on experience as a professional systems admin / systems engineering / DevOps Engineering
• Excellent experience in a Linux environment is a must
• AWS experience is a must, especially in VPC, EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, IAM, CloudWatch and SES
• Good knowledge of Python and/or Bash scripting
• Good knowledge of Git version control software
• Working knowledge of databases and SQL (PostgreSQL preferred)

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of Docker or Kubernetes
• NoSQL knowledge (Mongo)
• Lucene Indexing (ElasticSearch)
