To lead and optimize the extrusion press production operations by ensuring efficient machine utilization, adherence to process parameters, and consistent product quality. The role involves managing shift operations, troubleshooting production issues, coordinating with maintenance and quality teams, and implementing process improvements to meet production targets, reduce downtime, and enhance overall press performance.Job Title
Support - Press - PP - JHGMonitor and control daily extrusion press operations (billet loading, die setup, extrusion, quenching, etc... Ensure execution of the production plan to meet quantity, quality, and delivery targets. Minimize press downtime and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE..Maintain and monitor key process parameters (temperature, speed, pressure, billet length, etc... Identify process inefficiencies and work with cross-functional teams to improve cycle times and yield. Implement lean manufacturing and 5S practices on the shop floor.Supervise operators and shift technicians; assign tasks and ensure safe working practices. Conduct regular shift meetings and ensure proper handovers between shifts. Train the team in extrusion best practices and standard operating procedures (SOPs..Ensure products meet customer specifications and quality standards. Work closely with the QA/QC team to address non-conformities and reduce rejection rates. Maintain production and quality documentation, including logbooks and traceability records.Identify and troubleshoot issues related to die setup, billet quality, ram pressure, and extrusion defects. Coordinate with maintenance for planned and unplanned shutdowns. Monitor die life and recommend die reconditioning or replacement as needed.Enforce safety protocols and promote a culture of safe working on the shop floor. Ensure proper handling of high-temperature materials, hydraulic systems, and press-related equipment.Principal Accountabilities
Supervise and manage extrusion press activities, including billet loading, die setup, extrusion, and handling. Ensure safe and efficient operation of the press as per the standard process parameters.Execute daily and shift-wise production plans in alignment with delivery schedules. Monitor production output and ensure achievement of production targets with minimal downtime.Monitor critical process parameters (temperature, pressure, speed, extrusion ratio, etc... Adjust machine settings to improve productivity, reduce cycle time, and minimize material waste.Supervise die installation and removal, ensuring correct alignment and secure clamping. Coordinate with the die shop for timely die availability, reconditioning, and maintenance.Identify and resolve process or equipment-related issues (e.g., die jamming, poor surface finish, dimensional variation.. Analyze root causes of press-related defects and implement corrective actions.Ensure products meet dimensional and surface quality standards as per customer requirements. Coordinate with the quality team to address deviations and reduce rejection rates.Work closely with the maintenance team for preventive and breakdown maintenance of the extrusion press and auxiliary equipment. Report abnormalities in press behavior or hydraulics/electrical systems.Maintain production records, die usage logs, downtime reports, and shift summaries.Key Interactions
