Role Overview

The Strategic Communications Associate will play a pivotal role in enhancing the visibility, positioning, and outreach of the Climate Change & Sustainability (CCS) practice. The role involves leading the design and execution of communication strategies, creating impactful content, managing digital presence, and supporting stakeholder engagement. The Associate will also contribute to events, campaigns, and high-level dialogues that amplify CCS’s work on climate change and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Communication & Branding (

  25%): Develop and execute CCS’s communication and branding strategy, ensuring alignment with practice objectives. Prepare key messages, positioning notes, and toolkits for diverse stakeholders.

• Content Development & Knowledge Products (

  25%): Draft, edit, and design content such as reports, blogs, op-eds, policy briefs, newsletters, and presentations. Prepare donor/partner updates and translate technical concepts into accessible narratives.

• Media & Outreach (

  20%): Manage CCS’s website and social media platforms (LinkedIn, Twitter/X, etc.), liaise with media, draft press releases, and ensure visibility of CCS-led events. Identify platforms for thought leadership and develop submissions.

• Internal & Stakeholder Communication (

  15%): Support leadership with speeches, talking points, and briefing notes. Coordinate communications with partners, donors, and advisory groups, while capturing field experiences and success stories.

• Events & Campaigns (

  15%): Assist in designing campaigns for global observances (e.g., COP events, World Environment Day). Support the planning and branding of convenings, workshops, and dialogues.

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field.
• 2–3 years of PR, media relations, or communication experience, preferably in development, consulting, or sustainability.
• Strong writing, editing, and digital communication skills; proven ability to secure impactful media placements.
• Familiarity with climate change or sustainability issues preferred.
• Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
• Prior experience with NGOs, government, or international organisations is an advantage.
• Strong interpersonal, organisational, and stakeholder management skills.
