Job Description

  • Oversee day-to-day functioning of the hospital store.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of medical supplies, surgical instruments, medicines, and equipment.
  • Ensure timely procurement of materials through approved vendors.
  • Coordinate with various hospital departments (ICU, OT, Pharmacy, Nursing, etc.) for supply requirements.
  • Maintain records of stock received, issued, and balance levels.
  • Monitor expiry dates and ensure safe disposal of expired/obsolete stock.
  • Implement FIFO (First In, First Out) and FEFO (First Expiry, First Out) methods for inventory management.
  • Supervise staff involved in receiving, stocking, and distribution of supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, statutory requirements, and quality standards.
  • Prepare reports on stock levels, consumption trends, and budget utilization.
  • Negotiate with suppliers for, quality and timely delivery.
  • Conduct periodic audits to prevent stock discrepancies and pilferage.
  • Ensure proper storage conditions for sensitive medical items (temperature-controlled storage).
  • Knowledge of medical equipment, consumables, and drugs.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in hospital inventory management software/ERP.
  • Good communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet urgent supply demands.
  • Knowledge about NABH standard and compliance.
