Job Description

The Store Manager will be responsible for ensuring the availability of necessary electrical components, equipment, and supplies for ongoing and upcoming projects, while maintaining accurate inventory records, optimizing storage, and adhering to safety regulations. This role requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of electrical materials and project requirements.


Key Responsibilities:

Inventory Management:

  • Develop and implement efficient inventory control systems and procedures for all electrical materials and equipment.
  • Monitor stock levels, anticipate project needs, and initiate timely procurement requests to avoid shortages or delays.
  • Conduct regular stock audits and reconciliations to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.
  • Manage the receipt, inspection, and proper storage of incoming materials.
  • Oversee the issuance of materials to project sites based on authorized requisitions.
  • Track material usage and returns from project sites.
  • Identify and manage obsolete or surplus inventory, recommending appropriate disposal methods.

Warehouse and Storage Management:

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and secure warehouse environment, adhering to safety regulations and best practices.
  • Optimize warehouse layout for efficient storage and retrieval of materials.
  • Ensure proper handling and storage of sensitive or specialized electrical components.
  • Implement and enforce procedures for loading, unloading, and transportation of materials.
  • Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of warehouse equipment (e.g., forklifts, racking systems).

Procurement and Vendor Coordination:

  • Collaborate with the procurement department to provide accurate material specifications and quantities for purchase orders.
  • Assist in evaluating vendor performance based on delivery times, quality, and pricing.
  • Maintain positive relationships with suppliers and address any material-related issues.

Project Support:

  • Work closely with project managers and site engineers to understand material requirements and delivery schedules.
  • Ensure timely delivery of materials to project sites, coordinating logistics as needed.
  • Provide regular updates on material availability and potential delays.
  • Assist in resolving material-related issues that may arise during project execution.

Team Leadership and Supervision:

  • Supervise and manage warehouse staff, including assigning tasks, providing training, and evaluating performance.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment within the store/warehouse team.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate records of inventory levels, material movements, and stock transactions.
  • Prepare regular reports on inventory status, material usage, and warehouse activities.
  • Ensure proper documentation for all incoming and outgoing materials.
  • Utilize inventory management software and tools effectively.

Health and Safety:

  • Enforce all health and safety regulations within the warehouse and during material handling activities.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and address any potential hazards.
  • Ensure that all staff are properly trained on safety procedures.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred), Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field. Diploma holders with significant relevant experience may also be considered.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in store/warehouse management, preferably within the electrical contracting, construction, or related industry.
  • Strong understanding of electrical materials, components, and equipment used in various projects (e.g., cables, conduits, switchgear, lighting fixtures).
  • Proven experience in inventory management principles and best practices.
  • Familiarity with inventory management software and ERP systems.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of local Mumbai region logistics and transportation.
  • Valid driver's license may be required.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with specific inventory management software relevant to the industry.
  • Knowledge of relevant Indian electrical standards and regulations.
  • Experience in handling customs and import/export procedures (if applicable).
