Job Description

Role: State Manager – Solar Sales

🔹 Key Roles and Responsibilities


1. Sales Strategy & Planning

Develop and implement the state-level sales strategy in alignment with national goals.

Identify market opportunities, customer segments, and sales channels.

Set monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets for the team.



2. Team Leadership & Management

Train, and lead a high-performing sales team (area sales managers, executives, channel partners).

Monitor team performance and provide coaching, motivation, and performance evaluations.

Organize regular sales meetings and training sessions.



3. Channel Development & Management

Identify and onboard new channel partners (dealers, distributors, EPCs).

Strengthen relationships with existing channel partners and drive their performance.

Ensure proper partner training, support, and communication.



4. Business Development

Drive B2B and B2C solar business in the state (residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional sectors).

Represent the company in state-level government tenders, utility programs, and other initiatives.

Build relationships with key customers, influencers, and government agencies.


5. Market Intelligence & Reporting

Monitor competitor activities, pricing strategies, and market trends.

Provide regular market feedback and reports to the senior leadership team.

Analyze sales data to drive decisions and strategy adjustments.



6. Operations & Coordination

Coordinate with logistics, marketing, and technical teams to ensure smooth sales execution.

Oversee pre- and post-sales customer support and satisfaction.

Ensure regulatory compliance, especially regarding subsidies, net metering, etc.



7. Revenue & Profitability Focus

Ensure sales profitability by managing pricing, discounts, and credit policies.

Track revenue generation and ensure collections are timely and within credit norms.



🔹 KPIs (Key Performance Indicators)


Achievement of sales targets (monthly/quarterly/annual)

Growth in channel partner base

Market share in the assigned territory

Team performance metrics (training, attrition)

Customer satisfaction and retention rates


🕒 Experience: 5+ years in B2B Solar Sales (must have handled a sales team)

✅ Strong dealer/distributor network knowledge & team leadership skills required
