Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Stamping NPI Quality Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful introduction of new stamped parts, ensuring all products meet the highest quality standards and specifications throughout the product lifecycle. This role involves working closely with design, engineering, and production teams to guarantee that new stamping processes and products are validated for quality, manufacturability, and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

New Product Introduction (NPI) Support:

  • Lead quality activities for new stamping products from concept through production launch.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that new stamping parts meet quality requirements and are manufacturable.

Tooling and Process Validation:

  • Work closely with tooling engineers to ensure the design and validation of stamping dies and tooling meet product specifications.
  • Involving tooling trials and perform validations to ensure that the stamping process consistently produces parts that meet dimensional and functional requirements.

Quality Control and Inspection:

  • Develop and implement quality control procedures for stamping parts, ensuring that product quality meets customer requirements and specifications.
  • Perform first article inspections (FAI) and ongoing audits of stamped parts.

Root Cause Analysis and Problem Solving:

  • Identify, analyze, and resolve quality issues or non-conformances during the NPI phase, using tools such as root cause analysis, FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), and 8D reports.
  • Work closely with the production and engineering teams to implement corrective actions and preventive measures for identified quality issues.
  • Address quality issues during the NPI phase by performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.

Supplier and Material Qualification:

  • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure raw materials meet required specifications for stamping.
  • Ensure that materials are consistently delivered to specifications and are suitable for the stamping process.
  • Coordinate material testing and qualification as needed for NPI projects.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of quality inspections, testing, and validation activities.
  • Prepare and present quality reports to internal teams and customers, outlining NPI progress, test results, and any issues or concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with company and industry standards (e.g., ISO, IATF 16949, etc.).

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in the stamping process, frommaterial handling to final product delivery.
  • Use data-driven methodologies such as Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing to improve process stability, reduce scrap, and increase yield rates.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction while maintaining or improving product quality and process efficiency.

Training and Development:

  • Provide training and guidance to production and quality teams on new product requirements, process changes, and quality control techniques.
  • Promote a culture of quality awareness, ensuring that all team members understand their role in meeting quality standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in stamping quality, preferably in an EMS or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of stamping processes, materials, tooling, and manufacturing techniques
  • Familiarity with quality management systems and standards (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949).
  • Proficient in quality control tools and techniques, such as SPC (Statistical Process Control), FMEA, root cause analysis, and 8D problem-solving.
  • Experience with dimensional measurement tools, including CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine), micrometers, and other precision inspection devices.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC), first article inspections (FAI), and root cause analysis tools (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams).
  • Experience with statistical analysis tools and methods (SPC, Minitab, MP etc.).
  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Knowledge of advanced stamping technologies, such as progressive dies or high-speed stamping.
