bp’s corporate Mergers & Acquisitions team which guides in performing acquisitions, disposals, joint ventures and asset restructurings within the bp Group. You will also engage with internal and external partners to drive the technology activities associated with M&A deals
Let Me Tell You About The Role
As a Project Manager in bp’s Technology M&A Execution team, you will lead delivery of technology workstreams that support mergers, acquisitions, and divestments. You may also play a role in pre-deal due diligence, ensuring that technology risks, dependencies, and integration opportunities are identified and addressed early in the transaction lifecycle.
Project Delivery
What you will deliver:
- Lead end-to-end execution of technology workstreams for M&A transactions, including data migration, TSA planning, license transfers and platform transitions across structured and unstructured systems
- Coordinate across bp’s digital platforms, enterprise architects, and business collaborators to ensure alignment with strategic goals.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as the primary point of contact for technology-related M&A Execution activities
- Facilitate communication between deal teams, legal, cybersecurity, and digital platform leads.
Risk & Organisational Change
- Identify and call out technology risks uncovered during integration or divestment activities
- Recommend mitigation strategies and ensure they are reflected in integration/divestment planning and legal agreements.
Pre-Deal Due Diligence
Understand the outputs from Due Diligence including
- Digital due diligence reports
- Target architecture assessments
- Cybersecurity risk summaries
- Data room content reviews and Q&A management [3] [4]
What you will need to be successful (experience and qualifications):
- Validated experience handling complex technology projects in M&A or divestment contexts.
- Strong understanding of enterprise systems (e.g., SAP, cloud platforms, cybersecurity frameworks).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence senior leadership.
At this level, the Project Manager is delivering multiple concurrent initiatives. They apply critical thinking to programme and project management, ensuring alignment with broader organizational goals. Stakeholder management involves influencing senior leadership and aligning cross-functional teams to shared objectives. They are strategically applying mixed methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, etc.) to drive delivery and maintain team focus. They demonstrate leadership in systems development, ensuring robust, enduring solutions meet technical and business needs. They are beginning to mentor and develop junior members of the team, with an eye on growth and continuous improvement.
Preferred Experience
- Familiarity with due diligence processes, data room management, and TSA planning
- Experience working in global, matrixed organizations.
- Significant experience in project management or related field, leading projects with increasing scope and complexity.
- Consistent record of handling large-scale projects and navigating interpersonal complexity.
- Proficiency in advanced Agile techniques, including scaling frameworks.
