Sr. Automation Test Engineer

Role Summary

We are looking for a Senior Automation Test Engineer who can own test automation end to end and communicate clearly with Product, Development, and Customer Success teams. This role requires strong hands-on experience with Playwright using TypeScript, a solid understanding of web application testing, and the ability to design reliable and maintainable automation frameworks.

You will play a key role in improving product quality, reducing regression cycles, and enabling faster and safer releases in a regulated SaaS environment.

Key Responsibilities

Automation Ownership

• Design, build, and maintain automated test suites using Playwright with TypeScript
• Own regression automation for web applications and APIs
• Ensure test coverage for critical workflows, edge cases, and integrations
• Review and refactor existing automation code to improve stability and readability

Test Strategy and Execution

• Define automation strategy aligned with sprint and release plans
• Identify test scenarios from requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria
• Execute automated and manual tests as needed during sprint cycles
• Track and report test results, defects, and quality risks clearly

Collaboration and Communication

• Work closely with Product Managers to clarify requirements and acceptance criteria
• Partner with developers to debug issues and validate fixes
• Communicate test status, risks, and quality gaps to stakeholders without noise
• Participate actively in sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives

CI CD and Quality Enablement

• Integrate automation suites with CI CD pipelines
• Ensure tests run reliably in pipeline and test environments
• Monitor flaky tests and take ownership to stabilize them
• Support release sign-off with clear quality metrics

Documentation and Mentoring

• Document test scenarios, automation approach, and framework usage
• Guide junior QA engineers on automation best practices
• Promote quality-first thinking across teams

Required Skills and Experience

Technical Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with Playwright using TypeScript
• Solid understanding of JavaScript and TypeScript fundamentals
• Experience testing modern web applications
• API testing experience using REST
• Experience with test data setup and environment coordination
• Familiarity with CI CD tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins
• Strong understanding of test design techniques

Communication and Ownership

• Clear written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to explain technical issues to non-technical stakeholders
• Strong ownership mindset with minimal supervision
• Comfortable working with global teams across time zones

Good to Have

• Experience in SaaS or enterprise platforms
• Exposure to regulated domains such as Pharma, Healthcare, or Finance
• Knowledge of performance or security testing basics
• Experience working in Agile Scrum teams

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to ₹1,900,000.00 per year
