Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced
TMS Analyst
with strong knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Transportation Management Systems (TMS), and related logistics processes. This role will act as the bridge between WMS functional teams and TMS teams/vendors, ensuring that all TMS dependencies are identified, requirements are clearly translated, development is executed, and testing is successfully completed. The TMS Analyst Lead will play a critical role in enabling seamless
parcel manifesting, rating, routing, and transportation execution
processes that are dependent on WMS data and workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Requirements Gathering & Translation
- Partner with WMS business/functional teams to capture transportation requirements including parcel manifesting, rating, routing, carrier selection, and freight audit.
- Translate WMS process dependencies into TMS functional and technical specifications.
- Ensure alignment between WMS outbound processes (picking, packing, shipping) and TMS shipment creation and execution.
- TMS Development Oversight
- Collaborate with TMS teams and external vendors to design, configure, and deliver integrations between WMS and TMS platforms.
- Oversee development of solutions supporting parcel manifesting systems, rate engines, and routing guides.
- Validate that all integrations support operational accuracy, cost optimization, and service level adherence.
- Testing & Validation
- Coordinate testing of parcel rating, manifesting, routing, and carrier tendering processes across WMS and TMS systems.
- Drive regression and end-to-end testing of WMS–TMS data flows (orders, loads, shipments, freight costs).
- Manage issue tracking, defect resolution, and final sign-off with WMS teams.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the primary liaison between WMS teams, TMS vendors, carriers, and IT stakeholders.
- Work closely with supply chain operations to ensure business needs are fully supported.
- Engage with parcel carriers and 3PLs to ensure seamless execution of transportation flows.
- Governance & Compliance
- Ensure TMS enhancements and integrations align with enterprise architecture, compliance, and security standards.
- Support process documentation, change management, and knowledge transfer across WMS and TMS teams.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Experience:
- 8+ years of IT/Supply Chain experience with at least 3+ years in TMS analysis and integrations.
- Hands-on experience with TMS platforms (Blue Yonder TMS, Oracle OTM, SAP TM, Manhattan TMS, or equivalent).
- Familiarity with parcel manifesting systems, carrier rating engines, routing optimization, and WMS shipping dependencies.
- Strong knowledge of WMS-to-TMS integration touchpoints (order management, load planning, shipment execution, freight billing).
- Skills:
- Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis capabilities.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across IT, operations, carriers, and vendors.
- Familiarity with EDI/API standards for parcel and LTL/FTL carrier integrations.
- Understanding of agile delivery and testing methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in large-scale WMS and TMS modernization/transformation initiatives.
- Exposure to automation, LMS, and BI reporting dependencies tied to transportation data.
- Experience managing multi-carrier parcel systems (UPS, FedEx, USPS, regional carriers).
- Background in cost optimization through rating engines and routing strategies.
- Experience coordinating offshore/nearshore vendor teams.
