Job Description


ROLE PURPOSE & OBJECTIVE


  1. Specialist - BRE is responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and optimization of rule-based systems that govern the credit policies for various loan products.
  2. This role is critical for ensuring that credit policies align with the banks credit strategy, regulatory requirements, and evolving market conditions.
  3. The role requires to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, data science, compliance, Product and underwriting teams, to ensure that business rules are effectively embedded in systems and processes. The role also plays a strategic role in assessing and enhancing the automation of credit decision processes.


Business:


  • Lead the development and implementation of business rules within the credit policy framework, using a Business Rule Engine (BRE) to automate and optimize decision-making.
  • Translate credit policies, risk strategies, and underwriting guidelines into technical rules in BRE.
  • Continuously monitor and refine rules to adapt to policy changes, regulatory requirements, and credit risk strategies.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather business requirements, ensuring that the BRE aligns with organizational objectives and compliance standards.
  • Train regional users on new rules configured in BRE
  • Coordinate with IT and vendors on BRE patch updates and ensure smooth migration without business disruptions.
  • Analyses the trend for rule fails and assist regions in achieving higher STP rates.


Customer:


  • Act as the primary point of contact for the Business Rule Engine and credit policy-related matters across departments.
  • Work closely with credit underwriting, risk, product, and IT teams to align rule-based credit decisioning with business objectives.
  • Communicate updates and provide training to relevant departments to ensure understanding of new or updated rules.
  • Support the credit policy team in developing new risk strategies and testing potential impacts within the BRE.
  • Conduct impact analysis to forecast how proposed changes to rules will affect credit decisioning and risk exposure.
  • Ensure that the rules effectively manage risk while supporting business goals for customer acquisition, profitability, and compliance.
  • Take feedback from regional credit teams and ensure their queries and feedback are addressed on time.
  • Maintain BRE tracker and publish the same to regional teams on first week of every month.
  • Quarterly analysis on rule fail trend and optimize rules for better efficiency.


Qualifications:

  • B.E or B.Tech (IT/CSE), MBA finance.
  • Bachelor’s/ master’s degree in business, Finance, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or related field


Experience:


  • 3-5 years of Experience in IT- Banking domain
  • Preferably a proven track record of managing and optimizing rule-based systems, particularly in financial services or fintech.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., SQL, Python, R etc) and decision automation
  • Knowledge of credit scoring models and loan origination processes.
