About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Solar Design Engineer with 6–8 years of proven experience in designing utility-scale solar projects (≥30 MWp). The candidate will handle the end-to-end design process — from site survey and feasibility assessment to detailed design, BOQ preparation, and client submissions.

Experience with transmission lines, substations, and power system studies (PSS/E, ETAP, DIgSILENT) is considered a strong advantage.

Key Responsibilities

Site Assessment & Survey

• Conduct site surveys (topographical, electrical evacuation, geotechnical inputs, and civil interface data collection).
• Evaluate land suitability, solar resource availability, and site constraints.
• Support feasibility studies and due diligence reports.

Design & Engineering

• Prepare conceptual, preliminary, and detailed designs for solar PV plants ≥30 MWp.
• Develop site layouts, SLDs, GA drawings, cable routing, and BoS design.
• Perform string sizing, inverter selection, and energy yield assessments (PVsyst).
• Optimize design for cost, compliance, and performance.

BOQ & Documentation

• Prepare detailed Bill of Quantities (BOQs) and material specifications.
• Support in tendering, bid evaluation, and EPC costing.
• Generate design reports, compliance documents, and technical specifications.

Electrical System & Grid Integration

• Design HT/LT distribution, switchgear, transformers, SCADA systems.
• Carry out load flow, short-circuit studies, and protection coordination.
• Liaise with DISCOMs/utilities for grid connection and approvals.

Transmission Lines & Substations (Advantageous)

• Design or review substations and transmission lines for evacuation systems.
• Conduct power system studies in ETAP/DIgSILENT/PSS/E, ETAP, DIgSILENT) is considered a strong advantage

Compliance & Standards

• Ensure designs comply with IEC, IS, NEC, IEEE, MNRE, and statutory guidelines.
• Maintain quality and regulatory adherence in all design submissions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering / Power Systems / Renewable Energy.
• 6–8 years of solar design experience, including utility-scale projects ≥30 MWp.
• Hands-on expertise in site surveys and BOQ preparation.
• Proficiency in PVsyst, AutoCAD, Helios3D, and ETAP/DIgSILENT/PSS/E.
• Strong understanding of grid integration, substations, and transmission lines (advantage).
• Familiar with international standards (IEC/IEEE) and local utility regulations.
• Strong reporting, documentation, and communication skills.
