literacy and practical skills in Indian newsrooms. This 5-month programme is aimed at

journalists, editors and media educators. It comprises several parts, including in-person

workshops, online sessions, one-to-one mentoring and newsroom visits.

HIL is looking to hire a Senior Program Manager for this programme. The role is well-suited

for mid-to senior-level journalists/communication professionals. The role involves managing

the program, working alongside key stakeholders, documenting the progress and impact of

participating journalists, and facilitating key aspects of the program alongside the HIL team.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• At least 5 years of experience in journalism, with a good understanding of newsroom functions, workflows and culture.
• Curiosity and openness to AI tools, and new workflows in journalism.
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust with participants.
• Basic data and numerical literacy, and comfort in working with spreadsheets and survey tools.
• Good communication skills to document the program from the client’s perspective.
• Readiness to travel.
• While this is an operate-from-home position, the candidate should be based in Delhi NCR, where the core teams of HIL and GNI are based.

Key Responsibilities

• Document participant progress and impact in their respective newsrooms through regular engagement. Outputs will include a structured spreadsheet, presentations and a final report.
• Support surveys and feedback collection to track participant performance throughout the program.
• Assist with coordination of in-person and online training sessions, working closely with the HIL team.
• Maintain an active feedback loop with participants to capture their learning journeys and pass on relevant insights to instructors.
