The Sr. Process Engineer is responsible for leading the design, development, and scale-up of CO₂-based alternate end-use products. This role involves applying chemical engineering principles to process design, optimization, pilot execution, and techno-commercial assessment. The engineer will work closely with internal teams, technology suppliers, EPC partners, and end users to ensure the successful scale-up of UrjanovaC’s patented CCUS technologies from pilot to commercial operations. A strong understanding of mass and heat transfer, thermodynamics, kinetics, and process scale-up principles is essential for this role.
Responsibilities:
· Prepare project scopes, Basis of Design, and performance assessment reports, including process design standards, site conditions, utilities, emission and waste limitations, and overall product performance requirements.
· Review and approve process deliverables such as block flow diagrams, process flow diagrams (PFD), mass and energy balances, P&IDs, utility flow diagrams, major equipment specifications, and pilot plant layouts.
· Serve as the technical lead during design, pilot execution, testing, and scale-up phases.
· Conduct technical and economic analysis (TEA), evaluating capital and operational costs for pilot and commercial projects.
· Work closely with EPC partners, equipment suppliers, and end users to optimize designs and ensure timely project delivery.
· Apply principles of mass, momentum, and heat transfer, thermodynamics, kinetics, and chemical reaction engineering to process and equipment design.
· Prepare conceptual PFDs and P&IDs, conduct process hazard and operability analysis (HAZOP), and assess safety and environmental impacts.
· Support the development of proposals, client-ready reports, and presentations.
· Provide guidance and support to internal teams and stakeholders during pilot operation and future scale-up.
· Carry out other related tasks as required to support projects from conceptual design to commercial operation (COD).
Desired Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
· Minimum 2 years of experience in process engineering, pilot plant design, or CO₂/gas handling technology.
· Experience in process optimization, scale-up, and techno-commercial assessment preferred.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
· Knowledge of process simulation tools such as Aspen Plus or HYSYS is a plus.
· Strong analytical, problem-solving, and team coordination skills.
· Experience in client-facing environments preferred.
· Self-starter with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
