Job Description

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for the technical and operational oversight of our food, air, and water testing services. This role requires a strong background in laboratory management, a deep understanding of microbiological testing methodologies, and a proven ability to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance with all relevant standards and regulations. The Technical Manager will also play a key role in team leadership, process improvement, and strategic growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Leadership: Serve as the subject matter expert in microbiology testing for food, air, and water samples. Oversee the development, validation, and implementation of new testing methods and technologies.
  • Team Management: Lead, mentor, and train a team of microbiologists and laboratory technicians. Conduct performance reviews, manage scheduling, and foster a culture of quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Quality Assurance & Control: Ensure the laboratory operates in full compliance with ISO standards (e.g., ISO 17025) and other regulatory requirements. Oversee all Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) activities, including instrument calibration, method validation, and proficiency testing.
  • Operational Excellence: Manage day-to-day laboratory operations, including sample reception, analysis, data review, and timely reporting. Troubleshoot technical issues and implement corrective actions to maintain efficiency and data integrity.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay current with all relevant national and international regulations and guidelines for food, air, and water testing. Ensure all laboratory activities adhere to these standards.
  • Client & Stakeholder Interaction: Act as a technical point of contact for clients, providing expert consultation and support. Collaborate with the sales and business development teams to expand service offerings and address client needs.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Oversee the preparation and review of all technical documentation, including SOPs, validation protocols, and final reports. Ensure all records are accurate, complete, and properly maintained.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Microbiology, Biotechnology, or a related scientific field.
  • Experience: A minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in a commercial or accredited testing laboratory, with a focus on microbiology.
  • Technical Expertise: Extensive hands-on experience and a deep theoretical understanding of microbiological testing for food, air, and water samples.
  • Leadership: Proven experience in managing and leading a team of technical professionals.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of relevant quality standards and regulations (e.g., ISO 17025, FSSAI, EPA, BIS).
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to address complex technical and operational challenges.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly to both internal and external stakeholders.
