Role Description This is a full-time on-site role for a Technical Manager - Microbiology, located in Mumbai. The Technical Manager - Microbiology will oversee and manage the day-to-day microbiological testing activities, including supervising the technical team, developing testing methodologies, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and maintaining laboratory quality assurance. Additional responsibilities include performing microbiological tests, interpreting test results, training staff, and continually enhancing laboratory processes and procedures. Job Summary: The successful candidate will be responsible for the technical and operational oversight of our food, air, and water testing services. This role requires a strong background in laboratory management, a deep understanding of microbiological testing methodologies, and a proven ability to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance with all relevant standards and regulations. The Technical Manager will also play a key role in team leadership, process improvement, and strategic growth. Key Responsibilities: Technical Leadership: Serve as the subject matter expert in microbiology testing for food, air, and water samples. Oversee the development, validation, and implementation of new testing methods and technologies. Team Management: Lead, mentor, and train a team of microbiologists and laboratory technicians. Conduct performance reviews, manage scheduling, and foster a culture of quality, safety, and continuous improvement. Quality Assurance & Control: Ensure the laboratory operates in full compliance with ISO standards (e.g., ISO 17025) and other regulatory requirements. Oversee all Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) activities, including instrument calibration, method validation, and proficiency testing. Operational Excellence: Manage day-to-day laboratory operations, including sample reception, analysis, data review, and timely reporting. Troubleshoot technical issues and implement corrective actions to maintain efficiency and data integrity. Regulatory Compliance: Stay current with all relevant national and international regulations and guidelines for food, air, and water testing. Experience: A minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in a commercial or accredited testing laboratory, with a focus on microbiology. Technical Expertise: Extensive hands-on experience and a deep theoretical understanding of microbiological testing for food, air, and water samples. Leadership: Proven experience in managing and leading a team of technical professionals. Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of relevant quality standards and regulations (e.g., ISO 17025, FSSAI, EPA, BIS). Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to address complex technical and operational challenges.
