Senior Microbiologist

As the Technical Manager at our company, you will be responsible for overseeing the technical and operational aspects of our food, air, and water testing services. Your role will involve utilizing your expertise in laboratory management and microbiological testing methodologies to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance with relevant standards and regulations. Additionally, you will be instrumental in providing leadership to the team, driving process improvement, and contributing to strategic growth. Key Responsibilities: - **Technical Leadership:** Act as the subject matter expert in microbiology testing for food, air, and water samples. Develop, validate, and implement new testing methods and technologies. - **Team Management:** Lead, mentor, and train a team of microbiologists and laboratory technicians. Conduct performance reviews, manage scheduling, and promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement. - **Quality Assurance & Control:** Ensure compliance with ISO standards (e.g., ISO 17025) and other regulatory requirements. Supervise Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) activities, including calibration, validation, and proficiency testing. - **Operational Excellence:** Manage day-to-day laboratory operations, including sample reception, analysis, data review, and reporting. Address technical issues and implement corrective measures to uphold efficiency and data integrity. - **Regulatory Compliance:** Stay updated on national and international regulations for food, air, and water testing. Ensure strict adherence to these standards in all laboratory operations. - **Client & Stakeholder Interaction:** Serve as a technical point of contact for clients, offering expert consultation and support. Collaborate with sales and business development teams to enhance service offerings and meet client requirements. - **Documentation & Reporting:** Oversee the preparation and review of technical documentation, such as SOPs, validation protocols, and reports. Maintain accurate and complete records. Qualifications and Skills: - **Education:** Bachelor's or Master's degree in Microbiology, Biotechnology, or a related scientific field. - **Experience:** Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in a commercial or accredited testing laboratory, focusing on microbiology. - **Technical Expertise:** Extensive practical experience and comprehensive theoretical knowledge of microbiological testing in food, air, and water samples. - **Leadership:** Demonstrated ability in managing and leading technical professionals. - **Regulatory Knowledge:** Profound understanding of quality standards and regulations like ISO 17025, FSSAI, EPA, BIS. - **Problem-Solving:** Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to address complex technical and operational challenges. - **Communication:** Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey technical information clearly to internal and external stakeholders.
