The Senior Hardware & Avionics Engineer is responsible for design, development,

integration, and validation of UAV avionics, embedded hardware, power

electronics, and wiring harness systems. This role requires expertise in PCB design,

embedded systems, power routing, EMI/EMC practices, harness engineering, and

UAV autopilot integration. The engineer will ensure flight-critical reliability, hardware

robustness, and production-grade readiness.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design UAV avionics hardware including sensor interface boards, power distribution boards, communication modules, and flight-controller expansion boards.
• Develop schematics, component selection, stack-up, and multilayer PCB layouts (2–8 layers).
• Implement signal conditioning, filtering, power stage design, and EMI/EMC-safe design practices.
• Perform board bring-up, debugging, and validation using tools like oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
• Design UAV wiring harnesses with proper routing, shielding, strain relief, and aerospace-grade connector selection.
• Define and enforce separation rules for power, signal, RF, high-current, and low-noise lines.
• Prepare detailed harness drawings, pinouts, fabrication documents, and ensure assembly quality per IPC-620 and aerospace standards.
• Lead system integration of avionics, ESCs, telemetry, GPS, and payload systems on UAV airframes.
• Conduct electrical, thermal, vibration, EMI, load testing, and support flight tests/troubleshooting.
• Develop DVP&R, test procedures, checklists, and RCA/NCR reports for hardware qualification.
• Ensure compliance with IPC standards, MIL-STD requirements (461/704), DO-160, ESD, grounding, and DGCA/Defence processes.
• Create and maintain SOPs, technical documentation, QC checklists, and FMEAs (DFMEA/PFMEA).

Required Qualification & Skills:

• Strong expertise in PCB design, analog/digital circuits, embedded hardware, and EMI/EMC-safe wiring, shielding, and routing.
• Hands-on experience in wiring harness assembly, crimping, integration, and avionics hardware testing.
• Proficiency with Pixhawk/Cube platforms, ArduPilot/PX4, and STM32/ARM MCU interfaces.
• Familiarity with GNSS/RTK, IMUs, magnetometers, radios, and UAV flight electronics.
• BTech/MTech in Electronics, Avionics, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
• Experience in UAV, aerospace, robotics, automotive, or defence hardware development.
• Understanding of DO-254/DO-160, EMI/EMC standards, high-voltage LiPo systems, and BMS.
• Strong ownership, accountability, and hands-on engineering mindset.
• Excellent debugging, analytical abilities, documentation skills, and cross-functional communication.
• Ability to mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership.
