Senior FPGA Design Engineer

Job Description

ViewRay Systems is currently seeking a Senior FPGA Design Engineer, who will share our passion for conquering cancer and help us innovate and develop novel cancer therapy systems.

Responsibilities:

• Develop deep understanding of electrical system/sub-system solutions from concept to production.
• Develop high quality requirements for electrical components and modules.
• Work with the team, tech leads to understanding the project goals, architecture.
• Be proficient at VHDL, AMD/Xilinx Vivado tool-set, RTL Coding style Signal processing, Serial communication protocols, state machines, memory interface architecture and simulation.
• Develop FPGA modules that implement variety of sensor interfaces, data acquisition systems, high speed communication modules, signal processing, multi-layer closed loop adaptive controls, memory management, efficient software-hardware interface, interrupts, etc.
• Collaborate with fellow engineers for expanding FPGA design and hardware integration.
• Communicate effectively with electrical and software engineers to communicate design, interfaces, test and integration protocols.
• Use lab test tools such as logic analyzer, oscilloscope, multimeter and variety of tools regularly to test designs.
• Lead electrical-software integration efforts
• Perform data analysis and develop test methods that ensure the safe and effective design and operation of new products.

Required Qualifications

• BSEE or other related degree with 6 years of experience.
• Able to quickly grasp user level or system requirements and translate into subsystem requirements and designs.
• Strong understanding of FPGA development platforms AMD/Xilinx Vivado.
• Strong understanding of VHDL and RTL oriented coding practices.
• Basics of Circuit design, Schematics.
• Excellent Communication Skills to explain ideas.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Must be able to work around strong magnetic field.

Preferred Qualifications

• MSEE with 3 years of experience
• Experience designing to various standards under IEC 60601 (Medical Electrical Devices).
• Use of Python to analyze, test performance of FPGA modules
• Demonstrated technical leadership capability in integration activities
• Effective oral and written communication skills
