About the Role:

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Strategy

• Define and implement the technical roadmap aligned with business objectives and eCommerce trends.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product, Design, Marketing, Client Services) to drive strategic initiatives.
• Lead engineering delivery for custom eCommerce projects, integrations, and platform migrations.
• Ensure consistent adherence to high standards of quality, scalability, and performance.

Engineering Management

• Manage and mentor a team of frontend, backend, and full-stack developers.
• Oversee sprint planning, code reviews, and DevOps pipelines.
• Cultivate a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Client & Project Oversight

• Work closely with clients to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Provide technical consultation during the pitch meetings when required.
• Ensure on-time and on-budget delivery of client projects.

Technical Excellence

• Maintain deep expertise in eCommerce platforms (e.g., Shopify, WooCommerce, etc..), APIs, payment gateways, and performance optimization.
• Stay ahead of emerging technologies and trends in eCommerce and recommend adoption where relevant.
• Enforce best practices in security, architecture, and code quality.

Requirements:

• Proven experience leading engineering teams in a service-based agency or consultancy environment.
• Strong background in building and scaling eCommerce platforms (Shopify, WooCommerce, etc.).
• Hands-on experience with modern tech stacks: JavaScript frameworks (React, Vue), PHP, Node.js, REST APIs, and cloud infrastructure (AWS).
• Experience managing remote teams.
• Deep understanding of the eCommerce funnel, conversion optimization, and performance metrics.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to translate business strategy into actionable engineering plans.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with headless commerce architectures (e.g., using Shopify Hydrogen, Next.js, or similar).
• Familiarity with ERP and CRM integrations.
• Previous experience in a high-growth startup or scaling agency.
• Technical certifications in cloud platforms or eCommerce platforms.
