Job Description – Senior Engineer (QS & Billing)

Department: Projects / Contracts

Experience: 8 to 10 Years

Location: Chennai

Industry: Industrial Projects (Factories, Warehouses, Canteens, etc.)

Reporting To: Project Manager

Job Purpose

To handle all aspects of Quantity Surveying and Billing activities for industrial construction projects — ensuring accurate measurement, timely billing, cost control, and contractual compliance to achieve project profitability and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Quantity Estimation & Measurement

1. Prepare detailed quantity take-offs from drawings and specifications.

2. Verify site measurements and quantities executed for subcontractor and client billing.

3. Maintain systematic measurement records and reconciliation sheets.

Client & Subcontractor Billing

1. Prepare and submit interim and final bills to clients as per contract conditions.

2. Prepare subcontractor RA bills after verifying measurements, rates, and supporting documents.

3. Coordinate with clients and consultants for certification and timely payment.

Rate Analysis & Cost Control

1. Conduct detailed rate analysis for new items and variation works.

2. Monitor material and labour consumption to ensure cost efficiency.

3. Support project teams in preparing cost-to-complete and cash flow forecasts.

BOQ & Tendering Support

1. Assist in preparing BOQs and cost estimates for new tenders and ongoing projects.

2. Evaluate vendor quotations and assist in finalizing work orders/subcontracts.

Documentation & Reporting

1. Maintain billing registers, variation registers, and reconciliation statements.

2. Prepare monthly cost and billing status reports for management review.

3. Ensure all QS & Billing documentation aligns with company and client requirements.

Contract Management & Coordination

1. Review contract terms and identify commercial risks or claims.

2. Coordinate with Planning, Procurement, and Site Execution teams for data inputs.

3. Support in finalization of contract closure documents and final settlements.

Key Skills & Competencies

Strong knowledge of Quantity Surveying, Billing, and Contractual Procedures.

Proficiency in MS Excel, AutoCAD, and ERP systems (if applicable).

Understanding of industrial project drawings, specifications, and standards.

Good analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.

Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.

Qualification

B.E. / B.Tech – Civil Engineering (mandatory)

Additional certification in Quantity Surveying / Contracts Management will be an advantage.

Preferred Industry Experience: Industrial Construction Projects such as Factories, Warehouses, Process Plants, and Utility Buildings.

Pay: ₹60,000.00 - ₹70,000.00 per month
