Senior DevOps Engineer - Build & Release Platform

About The Role

• A technical, hands-on Principal DevOps Engineer who can implement and support a world-class service to provide our customers with an always-on, state-of-the-art, automated SaaS environment on which to build our products and services.
• As a Principal DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for providing leadership and education across multiple teams and driving cross-functional initiatives to modernize the building and deployment of applications and services. You will work closely with both our infrastructure and engineering teams to help increase the release throughput while increasing the resilience and quality of the software we deliver.
• You'll have the challenge of creating an efficient informal structure that allows the understanding of teams' development flow and guides them towards best practices and tools that are supported by our platform. You will identify tools that we need to build, training that we need to do, and processes that we need to improve in the entire company.
• Ultimately, you will influence how software is built and deployed by every engineer every day of the week.

The technology stack you will be working on is hosted in the private cloud and GCP with the goal of being fully in GCP. You will be responsible for conceptualizing and delivering solutions in the space of end-to-end system architecture, automated builds, deployment, monitoring, and cloud infrastructure.
  

Your Area Of Focus

• Design, architect and provide leadership to drive modernization, adoption, security, cost management, and operational effectiveness across the Build & Release platform.
• Work closely with our infrastructure team to influence our CI/CD platform roadmap and to implement or design tools to improve our CI/CD process as well as CI/CD visibility.
• Architect and implement GitOps workflows to establish self-service and predictable pipelines (Atlantis/Terracube with Terraform and GitHub).
• Be a role model in engineering best practices.
• Coach and up-skill other engineering team members in complex topics, acting as a reference for engineering standard methodologies within the team.
• Working within a cross-functional team, you will be responsible for understanding, learning, and applying new automated build, test, and deployment capabilities and help develop project teams towards integrating such solutions.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code (IaC) libraries and automation codebase to support CICD, Git Repositories, and other related processes.
• Strategize the best ways for architecting CI/CD pipelines for dynamically growing microservices-based platforms in hybrid cloud environments.
• Support infrastructure and services, on-premise and in the cloud.
• Identify opportunities and implement solutions to further automate platform builds and processes.
• Collaborate with Engineering and the rest of the Operations team to promptly investigate, debug, and mitigate potential issues and outages.
• Resolve and act as escalation and coordination point for incidents and problems related to affected automation.
  

Your Professional Qualifications

• 6+ years of SRE/DevOps experience in a tech-forward environment, having demonstrated progressively innovative contributions in system architecture
• Demonstrated large-scale SaaS experience in a mission-critical environment
• Deep understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle
• Strong Experience building CI/CD pipelines with technologies such as TeamCity, Harness, Jenkins, Cloud Build, GitHub Actions, etc.
• Strong experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)
• Strong knowledge of programming and scripting in various major languages (Python, Go, Bash)
• Strong understanding of development build tools (Gradle/Maven, MSBuild, NPM/Yarn)
• Strong experience with Infrastructure As Code orchestration ( Terraform).
• Strong experience with Git-based workflows and actions.
• Strong experience using configuration management frameworks (Ansible)
• Strong experience working with systems deployed in a public cloud (GCP).
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
