Our mission is to make mental health care more accessible, comfortable, and impactful, so more people can experience meaningful change.

About the Role

Senior Credentialing Specialist

credentialing and revenue cycle

patient access, clean claims, and Innerwell’s growth trajectory

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the Credentialing Process:

Handle provider enrollment comprehensively, including initial credentialing, payer enrollment, re-credentialing, and ongoing provider monitoring.
  • Group Contract Credentialing & Payer Setup:

Ensure providers are correctly linked to group contracts and payer IDs, including accurate assignment of tax IDs, NPIs, specialties, locations, and networks to support clean claims and appropriate reimbursement.
  • Revenue Cycle Alignment:

Partner closely with RCM/billing teams to identify, investigate, and resolve credentialing-related payment issues (e.g., denials due to enrollment status, misrouted claims, paneling discrepancies). Help analyze root causes, implement fixes, and prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain SLAs:

Proactively manage credentialing timelines and deadlines, ensuring adherence to internal and external service-level agreements.
  • Proactive Communication:

Regularly engage with payers through calls or emails to swiftly resolve enrollment, contract, and paneling issues and keep processes moving.
  • Provider Profile Management:

Utilize platforms such as CAQH, Availity, Provider Express, Airtable, and Verifiable to maintain accurate, updated provider data across individual and group contracts.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Work closely with internal and external stakeholders across various time zones (including operations, clinical leadership, and RCM) to enhance credentialing coordination and support smooth revenue cycle operations.

You'd Be a Great Fit If:

  • Credentialing Expertise

Minimum of 2 years’ experience managing U.S. payer credentialing, ideally within a digital health or multi-state group practice/startup.

  • Group Contract & RCM Experience

Hands-on experience with group contract credentialing and payer setup, and a track record of collaborating with RCM/billing teams to resolve credentialing-related payment issues and reduce denials.

  • Tech-Savvy

Extensive experience with credentialing platforms, and comfortable using tools such as Slack, Airtable, and Sheets.

  • Effective Remote Communicator

Clear, proactive communicator who thrives in a remote, collaborative work environment and can confidently interface with payers, providers, and RCM stakeholders.

  • Organized & Analytical

Naturally detail-oriented with excellent project management skills; consistently meets deadlines, tracks SLAs, and uses data to spot trends in credentialing and payment issues.

  • Ambitious with a Growth Mindset

Aspires to leadership, with interest in eventually managing and mentoring a credentialing team and helping build a best-in-class credentialing and payer enrollment function.
