Job Description

Your Purpose

As a Civil Engineer, you will focus on the development of civil designs for non-infrastructure water assets. You’ll be responsible for ensuring the successful design and delivery of projects while contributing to the drive for sustainability, innovation, and efficiency. This offshore role offers a unique opportunity to be a key player in delivering complex water projects, improving water supply systems and infrastructure.

What You’ll Be Doing

Develop civil designs for water-sector assets, including concrete structures, steelwork, and masonry.

Apply British Standards, Eurocodes, and relevant guidance to design pipes and structures.

Produce clear and concise design sketches for integration into 3D models.

Contribute to specifications, proposals, work scope, and project schedules.

Participate in design development from feasibility studies to detailed designs.

Prepare and review Design Risk Assessments, ensuring health and safety compliance in all stages of the design process.

Support project management with preparation of Engineering Project Plans and liaising with stakeholders.

Review technical designs with the Technical Manager before construction to ensure quality and accuracy.

Engage with teams from various disciplines to optimise project delivery.

Proactively suggest innovative processes and solutions to improve design efficiency and reduce carbon impact.


Qualifications and Experience Required

  • M Minimum B. Tech / M. Tech from an institution of repute.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of design in the water industry.
  • An appreciation of the implications of works on the environment and knowledge of sustainable solutions, water and wastewater processes and health and safety legislation.
  • The ability to work with engineers from all disciplines and other industry professionals to optimise and develop bespoke and innovative designs.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, REVIT or Plant 3D as well as MS Office Software.
  • Strong interpersonal / team working skills, with a good working relationship with all levels of the organisation, clients and contractors


Key points:

  • A BEng or MEng/MSc degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Working towards Chartered Engineer status (MICE or MIStructE).
  • Strong experience in structural calculations for water industry assets and familiarity with design software (TEDDS, Staad Pro, Autodesk Robot).
  • Competence in reinforced concrete design, steelwork specification, and understanding of masonry design.
  • Experience in civil engineering design for water systems, including pipework, ground engineering, and service reservoir design.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Strong interest in learning, innovation, and continuous development.
  • A solid understanding of health, safety, and welfare requirements in design.
  • A proactive approach to learning and development, with a keen interest in embracing new technologies and improving efficiency.
  • A commitment to safety, ensuring all designs comply with CDM regulations and health and safety practices.
