About The Role

As a Sanctions Oversight & Advisory Specialist you’ll be:

  • Acting as the UK, EU, UN, and OFAC sanctions subject matter expert.
  • Providing guidance and advice on new and existing sanctions regulations and identifying material regime changes.
  • Maintaining and developing global sanctions compliance policies and frameworks.
  • Overseeing and reviewing sanctions screening systems and periodic testing conducted by 1LOD teams to ensure they operate effectively and align with Tide’s risk appetite.
  • Assessing business and risk impacts of regulatory or system changes and advising on required control enhancements.
  • Providing independent challenge and support on sanctions-related reviews and investigations led by 1LOD and regional 2LOD teams.
  • Partnering with regional Financial Crime teams to advise on complex sanctions issues and investigations.
  • Owning and maintaining the firm-wide sanctions and proliferation financing risk assessment.
  • Conducting compliance monitoring to ensure adherence to global sanctions regimes.
  • Completing ad-hoc oversight and advisory tasks as required to strengthen Tide’s sanctions framework.

What We Are Looking For

  • 4+ years’ experience in AML/CTF and Sanctions roles within an FCA/PRA-regulated financial services firm, specifically in a 2nd Line of Defence (2LOD) function such as Risk Oversight, Compliance Advisory, or Policy Governance.
  • Strong familiarity with UK, EU, UN, and US (OFAC) sanctions regulations, with the ability to interpret and apply these across complex business models.
  • Demonstrated experience providing independent oversight, challenge, and advisory input on financial crime controls rather than executing operational screening or investigations.
  • Experience within a Financial Crime or Compliance team covering areas such as CDD, risk assessment, transaction monitoring oversight, and thematic reviews.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify control weaknesses, and produce high-quality management information (MI).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, enabling effective collaboration and influence across cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work independently and exercise sound judgement in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
