Job Description

Salesforce Marketing Cloud Developer cum Consultant

This role will involve end-to-end management of campaigns, data integrations, platform optimization, and providing strategic advice on maximizing the potential of SFMC to achieve business goals.


Key Responsibilities:

1. SQL & AMPscript Development:

  • Solution Design:

    Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design automated solutions for data management and personalization that align with campaign objectives.
  • Development:

    Write and optimize SQL queries and AMPscript to handle data management, personalization, and automation processes within SFMC.
  • Implementation:

  • Write SQL queries in

    Automation Studio

    for specific data extensions.
  • Manage and create new

    Automation Studio workflows

    .
  • Write and deploy

    AMPscript

    in emails and

    CloudPages

    .
  • Test, troubleshoot, and optimize code to ensure it performs effectively and efficiently.

2. Campaign Execution:

  • Solution Design:

    Collaborate in designing campaign architecture, including email workflows, landing page structures, and dynamic content strategies.
  • Development:

  • Build email campaigns,

    CloudPages

    with forms, microsites, and configure

    SMS

    workflows in Marketing Cloud.
  • Implementation:

  • Execute and deploy campaigns, ensuring correct integration and setup across multiple platforms.
  • Test and troubleshoot campaigns prior to launch, ensuring the campaigns are free of errors.

3. Asset Standardisation & Templatisation:

  • Development:

    Create reusable templates and standardized assets, such as

    Content Blocks

    , ensuring alignment with brand guidelines and internal UX recommendations.
  • Implementation:

    Implement templates across

    emails

    ,

    landing pages

    , and other assets to ensure uniformity and consistency.
  • Maintenance:

    Create, update, and maintain existing

    email

    and

    CloudPage briefing templates

    , aligning with new containers and designs.

4. Platform Admin & Hygiene:

  • Solution Design:

    Develop and recommend processes for platform administration and hygiene to ensure best practices and system optimization.
  • Monitoring:

    Conduct regular system checks and enforce data hygiene best practices within the platform.
  • Support:

    Assist in monitoring

    IP

    and

    domain health

    , consulting on best practices to manage

    sender reputation

    and maintain delivery rates.

5. Integration & API Support:

  • Solution Design:

    Design integrations between

    Marketing Cloud Email Studio (MCE)

    and other systems, ensuring seamless and secure data flows across platforms.
  • Development:

    Build and maintain

    API integrations

    for syncing data between Marketing Cloud and external systems.
  • Implementation:

    Deploy integrations in live environments, ensuring real-time data syncing and troubleshooting any issues related to API connections.

6. Data Model Design & Collaboration:

  • Solution Design:

    Collaborate with the team to design scalable, flexible data models that align with evolving business needs. Document

    AS-IS

    and

    TO-BE

    designs of data flows.
  • Implementation:

    Implement data model changes in

    Marketing Cloud

    , ensuring proper setup of

    Data Extensions

    and segmentation logic. Troubleshoot any issues with data structures when needed.

7. Reporting & Analytics:

  • Solution Design:

    Design

    reporting frameworks

    and

    dashboards

    that align with business and campaign objectives, ensuring data accuracy and accessibility.
  • Development:

    Develop

    SQL-based reports

    and custom dashboards to track campaign performance and data insights.
  • Implementation:

    Deploy and maintain reporting dashboards, ensuring the data is accurate, updated, and continuously monitored for quality.

8. Best Practice Consultancy:

  • Assist in identifying and prioritizing key initiatives for platform growth, capabilities, and continuous improvements.
  • Contribute to executing roadmap items, ensuring that milestones are met and new features are delivered on time.
  • Provide training and documentation to internal teams and power users to maintain and evolve their knowledge of SFMC.


Key Skills & Qualifications:

  • Technical Expertise:

  • 3+ years of strong proficiency in

    Salesforce Marketing Cloud

    (SFMC), including

    Email Studio

    ,

    Automation Studio

    ,

    Journey Builder

    ,

    CloudPages

    , and

    Mobile Studio

    .
  • Expertise in

    AMPscript

    ,

    SQL

    , and

    Server-Side JavaScript (SSJS)

    for dynamic content, data manipulation, and automation.
  • Experience in creating and optimizing complex

    SQL queries

    ,

    automation workflows

    , and

    data extensions

    .
  • In-depth knowledge of data modeling, segmentation, and customer journey automation.
  • Consultancy & Advisory Skills:

  • Strong background in consulting clients on best practices for marketing automation, campaign design, and platform optimization.
  • Ability to provide strategic advice, focusing on platform growth and development based on evolving business needs.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of delivering workshops, training sessions, and documentation to support internal teams.
  • Project & Platform Management:

  • Experience in

    project management

    , managing multiple client deliverables, and ensuring projects are completed on time and meet business goals.
  • Strong knowledge of

    data hygiene

    practices,

    email deliverability

    , and

    IP reputation management

    .
  • Integration & Reporting Expertise:

  • Proven experience designing and implementing

    API integrations

    with external platforms and systems.
  • Experience in designing and developing

    custom reporting

    solutions using

    SQL

    and integrating data into meaningful

    dashboards

    .


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of hands on experience working on Salesforce Marketing cloud
  • 2+ years of consulting experience on SFMC, implementing complex use cases
  • Hands on experience of writing code in HTML, CSS and Javascript/AMPScript
  • SQL knowledge
  • Extensive knowledge of Marketing Cloud functionalities including AMPscript, Email Studio, Automation Studio, Journey Builder, Cloud Pages, Contact Builder and Content Builder.
  • Experience building applications and innovative email templates on the platform that drive business KPIs
  • Fundamentally curious and always tinkering and exploring new tech
