Job Description: QHSE Officer – Drilling & Rig Operations
Position: QHSE OfficerIndustry: Oil & Gas – Drilling & RigsLocation: [Insert Location]Experience: 3–10 years in Drilling/Rig SafetyKey Responsibilities:Implement and monitor QHSE policies and procedures on drilling rigs and associated operations.Ensure full compliance with Oil & Gas safety standards, including IWCF / IADC guidelines, rig safety protocols, and statutory regulations.Conduct daily rig inspections, hazard identification (HAZID), and Job Safety Analysis (JSA).Monitor critical drilling operations such as tripping, casing, cementing, hoisting, pressure control, and ensure safe practices.Ensure proper functioning and maintenance of BOP systems, well control equipment, fire suppression systems, and safety devices.Conduct Permit to Work (PTW) audits for hot work, confined space, working at height, and lifting operations.Lead Toolbox Talks, safety meetings, emergency drills (fire, man-overboard, well control, evacuation).Investigate incidents, near misses, equipment failures, and prepare detailed reports with CAPA.Ensure environmental compliance: waste management, spill control, emissions monitoring, and proper chemical handling.Coordinate with Rig Manager, Drilling Supervisor, Mud Engineer, Toolpusher, and HSE Manager for implementation of safety controls.Maintain QHSE documentation, logs, rig certifications, equipment checklists, and audit reports.Qualifications & Certifications:Diploma/Degree in Engineering or Science.Mandatory: NEBOSH / IOSH / ADIS / PDIS or equivalent.Preferred: IWCF Well Control / IADC RigPass / H2S (Hydrogen Sulphide) Training.Strong understanding of drilling operations, rig machinery, well control, and oilfield hazards.Skills Required:Knowledge of rig safety systems, oilfield equipment, and critical operations.Strong reporting, auditing, and incident investigation skills.Ability to work in remote drilling locations and rotational shifts.Excellent communication and leadership skills.
