Job Description

About The Role

We are seeking a skilled Linux System Administrator with strong hands-on experience in RHEL, Ubuntu, Oracle Linux, and SUSE. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, configuring, patching, hardening, tuning, and maintaining Linux systems while ensuring high availability, security, and optimal performance.

Key Responsibilities

Linux Administration :
  • Install, configure, patch, harden, and tune systems on RHEL, Ubuntu, Oracle Linux, and SUSE.
  • Manage system upgrades and security patches to maintain compliance and stability.

Automation & Scripting

  • Develop and maintain automation scripts in Bash, sh, or ksh.
  • Create health check and monitoring scripts to proactively identify and resolve issues.

Networking

  • Work with networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, VLANs.
  • Troubleshoot network issues using tools such as netstat, traceroute, and tcpdump.

Storage Management

  • Configure and manage LVM, RAID, NFS, SAN, iSCSI, and disk partitions.
  • Monitor and optimize storage performance.

User & Permission Management

  • Manage users, groups, sudoers configuration, PAM, and file/directory permissions.
  • System Monitoring & Troubleshooting
  • Utilize tools like top, htop, iostat, vmstat, and journalctl for performance analysis.
  • Perform detailed log analysis to identify root causes and resolve incidents.

Security

  • Implement and maintain security best practices, including SELinux, firewalld/iptables, SSH hardening.
  • Conduct vulnerability remediation and compliance checks.

Virtualization & Containers

  • Support virtualized environments (KVM, VMware) and have basic familiarity with Docker.

Collaboration & Documentation

  • Work closely with cross-functional technical teams to deliver solutions.
  • Document processes, configurations, and operational runbooks clearly and Excellence :
  • Balance patching schedules, KTLO (Keep The Lights On) activities, and project work effectively.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in Linux system administration across multiple distributions.
  • Strong knowledge of shell scripting (Bash, sh, ksh).
  • Solid understanding of networking protocols and troubleshooting tools.
  • Experience in storage technologies (LVM, RAID, NFS, SAN, iSCSI).
  • Proven troubleshooting skills for performance, network, and system issues.
  • Familiarity with virtualization and container technologies.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.

Good To Have

  • Knowledge of configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Experience with monitoring tools (Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus).
