Purchaser – Steel Industry

Experience Required: Minimum 3–5 years in steel industry (handling MS, HR, CR, Pre-Galvanized, HDG, Galvalume)

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Purchaser with in-depth knowledge of various steel materials, including Mild Steel (MS), Hot Rolled (HR), Cold Rolled (CR), Pre-Galvanized, Hot-Dip Galvanized (HDG), and Galvalume products. The ideal candidate will be responsible for end-to-end procurement processes — from vendor identification and negotiation to order placement and delivery coordination — ensuring timely and cost-effective sourcing aligned with production and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Identify and evaluate reliable vendors and suppliers for MS, HR, CR, Pre-GI, HDG, and Galvalume materials.
• Source and procure steel materials as per company quality standards, technical specifications, and delivery timelines.
• Negotiate prices, payment terms, lead times, and delivery schedules to ensure optimal procurement.
• Ensure purchase orders are issued accurately and timely; follow up on order status and coordinate with stores and production.
• Maintain strong vendor relationships and resolve any supply, quality, or logistics issues.
• Monitor steel market trends, price fluctuations, and competitor activity to make informed purchasing decisions.
• Maintain purchase records, documentation, and reports in line with internal audit and compliance standards.
• Coordinate with QA/QC and production departments to ensure material conformance and delivery planning.
• Control and optimize inventory levels to prevent overstocking or stock-outs.
• Ensure cost-efficiency and quality while meeting procurement targets.

Key Requirements:

• Education: Graduate/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Management, or related field (preferred)
• Experience: Minimum 3–5 years in steel procurement in a manufacturing or steel processing company.
• Technical Knowledge: Thorough understanding of MS, HR, CR, Pre-GI, HDG, and Galvalume grades, specifications, and applications.
• Proficiency in using ERP systems and MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Strong negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Preferred Attributes:

• Knowledge of local and national steel supplier networks.
• Experience with import procedures (if applicable).
• Familiarity with ISO or other quality management systems.
• Team player with a proactive and responsible work attitude.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
