Job Description

Position Summary:

We are looking for a highly competent and result-oriented Purchase Manager with extensive experience in the steel (Ispat) industry, to oversee and manage the procurement of raw materials and consumables. The ideal candidate will possess strong negotiation skills, in-depth knowledge of steel manufacturing inputs, and the ability to maintain cost-efficiency while ensuring consistent material availability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies for sourcing raw materials such as sponge iron, billets, scrap, ferro alloys, coal, and other steel plant inputs
  • Identify and evaluate vendors based on price, quality, service, and reliability
  • Negotiate contracts and terms to ensure best value procurement
  • Track market trends in steel and raw material pricing and adjust procurement plans accordingly
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate closely with production and stores teams to ensure uninterrupted material flow
  • Issue purchase orders, manage delivery schedules, and follow up on timely supply
  • Coordinate logistics and transportation of materials, ensuring timely delivery and cost optimization
  • Maintain proper procurement documentation, vendor records, and MIS reports
  • Conduct periodic reviews of supplier performance and take corrective action when needed
  • Ensure compliance with internal purchase policies and external regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with finance and accounts teams for timely payment processing and reconciliation

Candidate Requirements:

  • Education: Graduate/Postgraduate in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or Business Administration
  • Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of experience in purchase/procurement in the steel or heavy manufacturing industry
  • Industry Knowledge:
  • In-depth understanding of raw materials used in the steel manufacturing process
  • Familiarity with supplier networks, transportation practices, and pricing trends
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficient in MS Excel, Word, Outlook, and ERP software (SAP, Tally ERP, or equivalent)
  • Communication:
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Fluency in English and Hindi (written and verbal)
  • Personal Attributes:
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • High integrity, discipline, and attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and meet deadlines

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
