Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized and results-driven Purchase Manager for our cattle feed manufacturing unit. The ideal candidate will be responsible for sourcing quality raw materials such as grains, oilcakes, minerals, and additives, negotiating with suppliers, managing inventory levels, and ensuring timely procurement in alignment with production schedules and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement effective purchasing strategies to source raw materials like maize, soya DOC, rice bran, and other feed ingredients.
Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with suppliers to ensure reliable supply, competitive pricing, and high quality.
Monitor market trends and commodity prices to forecast demand and optimize purchasing decisions.
Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with vendors to secure cost-effective deals without compromising on quality.
Maintain and monitor inventory levels and coordinate with production and warehouse teams to avoid stock-outs or overstocking.
Ensure timely procurement and delivery of materials in line with production requirements.
Collaborate with QA/QC team to ensure material specifications and standards are met.
Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier information in ERP systems.
Conduct regular supplier audits and performance evaluations.
Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Agriculture, Commerce, or a related field. MBA preferred.
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in procurement, preferably in the cattle feed or agro-based manufacturing industry.
Strong knowledge of raw material markets related to animal feed.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
Proficiency in MS Office and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Tally, etc.).
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
