Purchase Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Understand project BOQs, technical specifications, and site material requirements
• Create purchase requests, obtain quotations, negotiate with vendors, and finalize purchase orders
• Develop and maintain a strong vendor network for civil, electrical, mechanical, and MS structural materials
• Track material procurement schedules to align with project timelines
• Coordinate with site teams for timely delivery, reconciliation, and consumption tracking
• Maintain purchase records, agreements, delivery notes, pricing and cost comparisons
• Evaluate vendor performance based on quality, price, delivery, and service
• Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and budget approvals
• Liaise with accounts for timely vendor payments and resolve invoicing issues
• Support implementation of digital purchase tracking systems and process standardization

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Diploma/BE/B.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or related discipline
• 5–7 years of experience in procurement (preferred exposure to construction / MEP / elevator industry)
• Strong knowledge of construction materials, market rates & vendor sourcing
• Good negotiation and communication skills
• Proficiency in MS Excel, Google Sheets, and ERP/Procurement tools
• Ability to manage multiple orders and deliver within deadlines
• Strong analytical and documentation skills

Preferred Competencies

• Experience in costing & vendor development
• Understanding of statutory requirements (GST, e-way bills, delivery challans etc.)
• Ability to work in a structured and process-driven environment
• Strong coordination skills with cross-functional teams
