Job Description

Purpose/Objective


    The Lead - Projects Substation (Site)-Tx is responsible for ensuring the successful execution of substations, meeting productivity goals within established timelines, budgets, and quality standards. This role is dedicated to driving safe and compliant project execution, rigorously upholding zero-harm principles, and adhering to all relevant processes and protocols to deliver high-quality outcomes across all phases of substation construction and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities of Role


    Lead - Projects Substation (Site)-Tx Project Management: Drive effective site management for substation projects by overseeing project monitoring, coordination, execution planning, and supervision of all site activities. Ensure timely project progress by planning and supervising daily site activities, and maintaining daily and monthly progress reports. Implement and maintain QC measures and systems by ensuring quality of materials and workmanship on-site, while overseeing all aspects of electrical works in compliance with Field Quality Plans (FQP). Facilitate smooth execution by coordinating with the main EPC contractor, Electrical Inspectors, Power Grid, and regional load dispatch centers to support system interfacing and substation commissioning. Achieve project milestones within approved budgets by preparing and running RA bills for the company and contractors on a monthly basis, and ensuring accurate material reconciliation. Compliance Management: Maintain strict adherence to safety and quality standards by implementing site-wide safety protocols and creating a zero-harm environment. Promote compliance with regulatory requirements by ensuring all site activities meet statutory and safety standards, and maintaining material receipt and handover documents. Certify electrical erection and commissioning activities by witnessing site tests on equipment and certifying test reports in line with required standards. Liaison and Stakeholder Management: Facilitate effective communication and coordination with external stakeholders by liaising with main EPC contractors, service providers, and OEMs to support seamless project execution. Build strong relationships with government authorities by engaging local government bodies, and coordinating with power grid operators and load dispatch centers for smooth system operations and substation charging. Support interdepartmental collaboration by maintaining effective communication with internal departments and aligning on project goals. Financial Management: Ensure cost efficiency by preparing and managing project budgets, tracking expenses, and controlling cash flow to align with project schedules. Maintain accuracy in resource allocation by reconciling materials, overseeing billing, and ensuring compliance with budgetary guidelines. Risk Management: Ensure project safety by rigorously implementing site-wide safety protocols and conducting regular safety audits, fostering a zero-harm environment for all personnel. Minimize potential project delays by proactively identifying and assessing risks, allowing for timely mitigation strategies to be enacted throughout the project lifecycle. Technology Integration and Innovation: Enhance project efficiency by integrating advanced project management software and tools, facilitating real-time monitoring and communication among all stakeholders. Drive continuous improvement in project execution by adopting innovative techniques and technologies, resulting in optimized workflows and reduced operational costs. Team Management: Foster a collaborative, productive team environment by coordinating with team members, providing guidance, and facilitating interdepartmental communication. Support continuous learning and skill development by providing coaching, encouraging teamwork, and maintaining a respectful, cohesive work culture. Qualifications and Experience


    Educational Qualification: B.E./B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering. Work Experience (Range of years): 10-15 years of experience in electrical project execution, preferably within the substation, power transmission, or energy infrastructure sectors, with at least 3-5 years focused on high-voltage substation projects (e.g., 765/400 kV). Proven experience in managing on-site electrical works, quality control, and safety protocols within large-scale infrastructure or utility projects. Strong knowledge of quality, safety, and regulatory standards for substation projects, Experience coordinating with contractors, government authorities, and other stakeholders. Familiarity with project management tools and site reporting systems for effective project tracking and execution.
