Habitat Restoration of Degraded Lands in Uttarakhand & Himachal Pradesh is a noble initiative of The Hans Foundation, a non-profit organization, working in collaboration with Axis Bank. The objectives behind the Integrated Village Development Project are rooted in the holistic upliftment of rural communities. By integrating various sectors such as Forestry, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Rural Development, the project aims to address the multifaceted challenges faced by villages. The project will be operationalized in villages in Uttarakhand & Himachal Pradesh.

JOB PURPOSE
The Project Coordinator will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising all field-level activities under the project. The position will ensure effective implementation of habitat restoration, nursery development, plantation, and community engagement activities as per the approved plan and guidelines of The Hans Foundation.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

A. Project Planning and Implementation
  • Prepare detailed monthly and seasonal action plans in consultation with the Project Manager and technical experts.
  • Coordinate and oversee implementation of project components — including nursery operations, plantation, soil and water conservation, and livelihood-linked interventions.
  • Ensure adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Facilitate the establishment and functioning of nurseries in coordination with the Nursery In-Charge.
B. Field Coordination and Supervision
  • Supervise field teams and community-based staff for smooth execution of project activities.
  • Monitor nursery activities, plantation progress, and maintenance of restored sites.
  • Conduct regular field visits to assess progress and provide technical or operational support.
  • Ensure proper utilization of project resources and assets at field level.
C. Community Mobilization and Capacity Building
  • Mobilize and engage local communities, self-help groups, and panchayats in restoration activities.
  • Organize awareness programs and training sessions on plantation, nursery management, and natural resource conservation.
  • Promote community ownership for long-term sustainability of interventions.
D. Monitoring, Reporting, and Documentation
  • Maintain detailed records of project activities, nursery outputs, and plantation achievements.
  • Prepare and submit weekly, monthly, and quarterly progress reports to the Project Manager / THF Regional Office.
  • Document best practices, success stories, and challenges faced during project implementation.
  • Support baseline and impact assessment surveys as required.
E. Coordination and Liaison
  • Coordinate with local forest, agriculture, and rural development departments for technical and administrative support.
  • Liaise with partner NGOs, technical experts, and local authorities for project convergence and collaboration.
  • Represent the project in district-level or stakeholder meetings when delegated.
F. Financial and Administrative Responsibilities
  • Support the preparation of budget forecasts and ensure expenditures are within approved limits.
  • Maintain field-level accounts and ensure timely submission of bills/vouchers as per project norms.
Facilitate procurement and distribution of materials and inputs at the field level.

3. Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: Graduate/Postgraduate in Forestry, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Rural Development, or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of experience in project coordination, preferably in forestry, watershed, or rural development projects.
  • Skills:
  • Strong planning, supervision, and reporting skills.
  • Good communication and team management abilities.
  • Knowledge of nursery, plantation, and community-based natural resource management practices.
Proficiency in MS Office and basic data reporting tools.

  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently in field conditions.
  • Strong commitment to environmental conservation and community empowerment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and coordination skills.
Willingness to travel extensively to field locations.
