The School of Humanities and Social Sciences at IILM University, Greater Noida invites
applications from distinguished scholars for the position of Full Professor in Mass
Communication and Journalism. This is a prestigious senior faculty position that
demands exceptional expertise in journalism, media studies, or mass communication. The
successful candidate will provide intellectual leadership, advance the university's media and
communication programs, and contribute significantly to research in the field.
Design, develop, and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Mass
Communication, Journalism, Media Studies, and Corporate Communication across
BA (Hons) Journalism & Media Studies, BA (Hons) Corporate Communication, and
M.A Marketing & Communication programs
Lead curriculum design and periodic review ensuring contemporary relevance aligned
with industry standards, media ethics, and NEP compliance
Mentor and guide students in advanced courses, research seminars, dissertations, and
media projects
Develop innovative pedagogical approaches integrating media theory with
contemporary journalism practice, digital media, and emerging communication
technologies
Facilitate hands-on learning through media production, case study analysis, and
industry exposure
Conduct lectures, seminars, and practical sessions with excellence in communication
and explanatory skills
Lead and establish robust research programs in Mass Communication, Journalism,
Media Studies, or Communications with specializations such as Digital Media, Media
Ethics, Investigative Journalism, Public Communications, or Media and Society
Publish original research in peer-reviewed national and international journals;
maintain strong publication track record demonstrating scholarly impact
Guide doctoral candidates (PhD scholars) in media and communication research
Pursue research grants and external funding from media organizations, research
councils, and international agencies
Establish collaborative research networks with media organizations, journalism
schools, and international research institutions
Contribute to inter-disciplinary research bridging Media, Business, Law, and Social
Sciences
Facilitate industry partnerships with media houses, news organizations, digital
platforms, and communication agencies
Engage with practitioners to bring contemporary media practice and industry
standards into curriculum
Oversee media labs and production facilities to ensure students gain practical
experience
Support student media projects, publications, and broadcast initiatives
Connect students with internship and placement opportunities in media and
communication sectors
Serve as mentor to Assistant and Associate Professors in research development and
academic growth
Contribute to academic program development and continuous quality improvement
initiatives
Participate in faculty recruitment and evaluation processes
Organize academic seminars, media debates, and research colloquia on current media
and journalism issues
Provide intellectual leadership in the discipline and contribute to strategic planning of
the department
Administrative and Community Engagement
Participate actively in institutional committees, academic governance, and strategic
initiatives
Engage in community outreach through media literacy programs, journalistic
training, and public education
Collaborate with media organizations on research, consultancy, and knowledge-
sharing projects
Contribute to professional associations in journalism and media studies; represent
the university in scholarly forums
Support university communications and media presence through expertise and
guidance
Ph.D. (Doctorate) in Mass Communication, Journalism, Media Studies, or closely
related discipline from a recognized national or international university
Master's degree with minimum 55% marks (or equivalent grade) in Journalism,
Mass Communication, Media Studies, or related field
Bachelor's degree with consistent good academic record (minimum 50%
throughout academic career)
Minimum 10 years of combined teaching and/or research experience in Mass
Communication, Journalism, or Media Studies in recognized universities, colleges, or
reputed research/media institutions
Evidence of continuous academic engagement throughout career
Minimum 5 years of substantial experience at the level of Associate Professor or
equivalent, or minimum 10 years of equivalent independent research and teaching
Minimum 15-20 high-quality research publications in peer-reviewed national and
international journals (indexed in UGC, SCOPUS, or equivalent databases)
Evidence of successful research supervision: minimum 3-5 doctoral candidates
guided to completion or currently supervising
Demonstrated ability to design and execute independent research projects in media
and communication
Track record of securing research funding from national agencies (UGC, ICSSR, DST,
etc.) or media/cultural organizations
Books or book chapters published by recognized academic or trade publishers
Demonstrated research impact through citations, media analysis, or policy
contributions
Demonstrated commitment to quality teaching with evidence of positive student
feedback
Experience in developing innovative courses, curricula, or media programs
Recognition for teaching excellence through awards or institutional commendations
Media and Journalism Practice
Professional experience in journalism, broadcasting, print media, digital media, or
communication sectors (minimum 2-3 years preferred)
Experience in media management, news room operations, or media organizations
Recognition or awards for journalistic work, media production, or communication
excellence (desirable)
Experience leading media departments, programs, or media centers
Demonstrated commitment to media ethics and responsible journalism
Experience in developing media literacy or journalism training initiatives
1. Program Leadership: Lead the development and enhancement of Journalism and
Mass Communication programs (BA Hons Journalism & Media Studies, MA
Marketing &Communication) ensuring contemporary relevance and student
preparedness for media careers
2. Research Contribution: Establish a recognizable research focus in journalism,
media studies, or communication with publications and potential for external funding
3. Industry Integration: Bridge the gap between academia and media industry
through collaborations, case studies, and student internships
4. Media Literacy and Outreach: Champion media literacy initiatives and public
engagement programs aligned with responsible journalism
5. Mentorship: Guide emerging scholars and junior faculty in media research and
publications
6. Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Facilitate connections between
Media/Communication and other disciplines (Business, Law, Psychology, Policy)
