Role Description

This position for a Production Planning & Control (PPC) role. The PPC specialist will be responsible for creating and managing production schedules, overseeing production planning, and ensuring timely completion of production processes. Daily tasks include analyzing production data, coordinating with various departments, and optimizing resource allocation. This is an on-site position located in Chennai, where the candidate will collaborate closely with the production team to ensure operational efficiency and productivity.

• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production plans for CNC machining and assembly lines
• Schedule jobs on CNC machines considering capacity, cycle time, tooling availability, and priority orders
• Coordinate with design and production teams to ensure correct CNC programs, fixtures, and setups
• Develop assembly plans and monitor progress to meet customer delivery schedules
• Balance workflow between CNC machining and assembly sections to avoid bottlenecks
• Monitor work-in-progress (WIP) and update production status reports
• Ensure timely availability of raw materials, semi-finished parts, tools, and consumables
• Track machine utilization, downtime, and efficiency – take corrective actions when required
• Coordinate with quality, stores, and procurement teams for smooth operations
• Optimize resources to reduce lead time and improve on-time delivery performance
• Maintain production records and generate MIS reports for management
• Implement Lean, Kaizen, and 5S practices in CNC and assembly areas for continuous improvement

Qualifications

• Expertise in Production Schedules and Production Planning
• Strong Analytical Skills and Planning capabilities
• Excellent Communication skills
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or relevant field
• Proficiency in production planning software and tools preferably with Odoo
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• 5–10 years of experience in Production Planning & Control, with hands-on exposure to CNC machine shop planning and assembly line scheduling
• Experience in heavy engineering, automotive components, or precision machining industries preferred

Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of CNC machine planning (turning, milling, VMC, HMC, etc.)
• Hands-on experience in assembly planning for medium to heavy engineering products
• Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems for scheduling and tracking
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Good knowledge of machining cycle times, process sequences, and capacity calculations
• Excellent communication and coordination skills across departments
