Job Description

The Missile Production Lead will lead and oversee the end-to-end manufacturing process of missile systems, ensuring high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. This role requires deep expertise in defense manufacturing, project management, and cross-functional leadership to deliver complex missile systems on time and within budget.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Manufacturing Engineering (or related field).

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in production.

  • Experience with BDL/ DRDO or any other missile assembly, integration, testing or MRO facility shall be preferred.

  • Knowledgeable in missile technology/ rocket propulsion/ explosives

  • Proven experience in missile or complex weapon system production is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of defense manufacturing standards and quality systems.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
  • Security clearance (or eligibility to obtain one) may be required.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement production strategies aligned with business goals, ensuring that customer aspirations and requirements of DRDO stakeholders are met.

  • Oversee daily operations across multiple product categories, ensuring optimal resource utilization and workflow efficiency.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Quality, Supply Chain, and Engineering teams to align production with design and delivery targets.

  • Monitor KPIs such as throughput, yield, downtime, and quality metrics across all categories.
  • Ensure adherence to production timelines, cost targets, and safety standards.
  • Ensure compliance with MIL STDs, JSS, JSG, CEMILAC and all other relevant quality standards.

  • Implement robust quality control systems and root cause analysis for defects.
  • Liaise with internal and external QA/QC agencies, like DGQA, MSQAA, NAI and any other as relevant to the project, to maintain high standards and timely clearances.

  • Drive lean manufacturing, Six Sigma and other process improvement initiatives.

  • Evaluate and implement automation, digital tools and smart manufacturing practices.
  • Lead capacity expansion and technology upgrades as needed.

  • Ensure implementation and continuous adherence to safety standards, especially during integration, storage and transport of explosives.
  • Keeping abreast of latest regulatory norms and standards applicable to the field and ensure readiness of plant for internal and external audits at all times.
  • Supervision, guidance and training of workers handling explosive material, while ensuring their safety at work.
