Job Summary
As a Product Manager – Integrations, you will own the strategy, roadmap, and execution of all third-party integrations within the Zato platform. You will manage relationships with integration partners like Xero and XPM, define integration capabilities, and ensure seamless data flow between Zato and external accounting systems. You will also identify and prioritize new integration opportunities to expand Zato’s ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute the integration strategy and roadmap for Zato, identifying high-value integration opportunities with accounting systems, practice management tools, and compliance platforms
- Own the end-to-end product lifecycle for existing integrations including Xero, Xero Practice Manager (XPM), and future third-party systems
- Manage relationships with integration partners including API vendors, technology partners, and ecosystem stakeholders
- Conduct technical and business due diligence for new integration opportunities, evaluating APIs, data models, authentication methods, and strategic fit
- Translate integration requirements into detailed technical specifications, API documentation requirements, and data mapping specifications
- Collaborate with backend engineers to design and implement robust, scalable integration architectures using REST APIs, OAuth, and webhooks
- Define data synchronization strategies including real-time vs batch sync, error handling, retry logic, and data consistency mechanisms
- Work with product designers to create intuitive integration setup flows, authentication experiences, and data mapping interfaces
- Define success metrics for integrations including sync success rates, API uptime, data accuracy, error rates, and user satisfaction
- Monitor integration performance, identify bottlenecks, and drive continuous improvements to reliability and speed
- Create comprehensive integration documentation including setup guides, API references, troubleshooting guides, and best practices
- Collaborate with customer success and support teams to address integration-related issues and gather user feedback
- Stay updated on partner API changes, version updates, and deprecations, ensuring Zato remains compatible with latest API versions
- Conduct competitive analysis of integration capabilities offered by competing platforms
- Drive innovation in integration features such as automated data mapping, intelligent field matching, and multi-system orchestration
- Support pilot clients with integration setup, troubleshooting, and optimization during onboarding
- Present integration roadmap, partner updates, and strategic recommendations to leadership
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field; technical degree preferred
- 3+ years of experience in product management with focus on integrations, APIs, or platform ecosystems (4–6 years preferred)
- Deep understanding of REST APIs, OAuth 2.0, webhooks, and API design principles
- Experience with accounting software APIs such as Xero API, QuickBooks API, MYOB API, or similar platforms
- Strong technical aptitude with ability to read API documentation, understand JSON/XML structures, and debug integration issues
- Proven track record of successfully launching and managing third-party integrations in SaaS products
- Experience managing partner relationships and negotiating integration agreements
- Excellent analytical skills with ability to evaluate technical feasibility and business value of integration opportunities
- Strong communication skills to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience with integration platforms, ETL tools, or middleware solutions is a plus
- Understanding of accounting data models including Chart of Accounts, trial balances, journals, and financial statements
- Familiarity with Xero, Xero Practice Manager, and accounting firm workflows is highly desirable
- Problem-solving mindset with ability to troubleshoot complex integration issues
- Customer-focused approach with commitment to delivering reliable, user-friendly integration experiences
- Experience in fintech, accounting, or compliance software is a strong plus
