Job Description

Product Manager – Accounting Software (SaaS)


Product Manager

Product Strategy & Planning
  • Define product vision, roadmap, and MVP scope
  • Prioritize features for small businesses and future scaling
  • Conduct market and competitor analysis (e.g., Tally, QuickBooks)
Requirement Gathering & Documentation
  • Gather requirements from small business owners and accountants
  • Translate business needs into:
  • Product Requirement Documents (PRD)
  • User stories & acceptance criteria
  • Define workflows for invoicing, expenses, reporting, and taxes
Accounting & Compliance
  • Work closely with accountants/CA to ensure:
  • Correct accounting logic
  • Tax compliance (GST/VAT, local laws)
  • Accurate financial reports
  • Validate P&L, Balance Sheet, Trial Balance outputs
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Act as the main link between:
  • Engineering
  • QA
  • UI/UX
  • Sales & Support
  • Participate in sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives
Product Delivery & Quality
  • Ensure on-time feature delivery
  • Review features before release
  • Support QA with test scenarios related to accounting accuracy
Customer Feedback & Growth
  • Collect user feedback and usage data
  • Improve usability and onboarding experience
  • Identify opportunities for upselling and advanced features
  • Ability to write clear PRDs and user stories
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge (Finance)
  • Experience with GST/VAT or other tax systems
  • Knowledge of Agile / Scrum methodology
  • understanding of databases and APIs
