Position Title: Product Designer

About the Role:

Albertsons is transforming how merchants make decisions. We’re bringing AI, data science, and human judgment together to create a new generation of intelligent, explainable tools that empower merchants to act confidently and quickly.

We’re looking for a Product Designer who can turn complex analytical insights into intuitive, elegant experiences.

This is not a traditional UX/UI role. You’ll be reimagining how merchants think, explore, and act building rapid prototypes and horizontal experiences that connect pricing, promotions, and assortment decisions into one unified, AI-powered workspace.


What You’ll Do:

Rapid Prototyping & Concept Design:

  • Build and iterate prototypes in Figma Make, Framer, Webflow, or lightweight front-end tools to explore new decision experiences.
  • Partner with AI and data teams to bring complex ideas (e.g., elasticity, explainability, forecast confidence) to life visually and interactively.
  • Create proof-of-concept mini-sites or demos to test new merchant workflows before engineering investment.


Design Next-Gen Merchant Interfaces:

  • Translate AI and data outputs into human-readable, trust-building interfaces.
  • Design horizontal user journeys that connect pricing, promotion, and assortment in a single experience.
  • Develop conversational and agent-assisted interactions that help users query, understand, and act on AI insights.


Create a Scalable Design System:

  • Build modular design components that can scale across multiple merchandising tools.
  • Ensure consistency in visual language, interaction, and explainability across the suite of Pricing and Merchant Intelligence solutions.


Collaborate Across Domains

  • Work closely with product managers, data scientists, engineers, and merchants to align on business needs and test prototypes quickly.
  • Lead design workshops to uncover user pain points and co-create intuitive solutions.
  • Communicate design concepts and rationale effectively to executive and non-technical audiences.


What You Bring

  • 5+ years of product design experience, ideally within data-heavy or enterprise environments.
  • Deep experience in rapid prototyping tools (Figma, Framer, Webflow) and modern UI systems.
  • Proven ability to translate analytical or AI-driven workflows into intuitive interfaces.
  • Strong sense of systems thinking — ability to design across multiple tools, not within isolated products.
  • Comfort collaborating with cross-functional teams (data science, engineering, business users).
  • Experience designing for AI-assisted or conversational experiences is highly preferred.
  • Excellent storytelling and communication skills; ability to simplify the complex and bring data to life.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exposure to retail, merchandising, or data visualization products.
  • Familiarity with GenAI, Explainable AI (XAI), or conversational interface design.
  • Portfolio showing breaks from traditional design silos — e.g., unifying multiple workflows into a single merchant experience.
  • Front-end curiosity (e.g., basic HTML/CSS/React skills) a plus, but not required.
